Ratings players, and how they mess up the game! Just a rant

Game 4990460

This is not going to be whine festival. I don't drink the stuff, nor like cheese with my liquor. Anyway, has anyone noticed the increased "play for ratings"? I have been in several casual games lately and have noticed how the game play changes when someone's ratings are going to be hit from a low ranking player. The map and game go out the window when this happens. I play a ton of speed games and my ratings change so often that one day I might be a cook, and the next a Sarge. My strategy is not perfect, but I cannot compete against several high ranking players that realize the game is lost and to protect their precious ranks start to suicide the board to take out the lower ranking players. Is that what strategy has come too? Is this site really worth playing casual? I think that only tourneys have been about the game, and the rest of casual games, ratings players can have all to themselves. I am here to do battle. This includes playing the map, the players, the drop, the dice, etc. To focus on only ratings, leaves the fair play of any map in question! Just my thoughts, observations, and opinions, and I am sure someone will leave some smart ass comments about me being a whiner, or a poor strategist, or a complainer, and that is fine, but before you do, I just hope you are not the type of player I am mentioning!

It is a sad day that I have to write this as I have been playing Risk, Axis and Allies, Battle of the Bulge, Nobunaga's Ambition, etc. for almost 3 decades. I am just getting tired of adding foes to the list, I like to keep my options open for gaming, but it is becoming harder and harder to not add some of the same routine players and their tactics!

I don't pay attention to ratings or the foe list. Why bother?

He seems to be more concerned with rank than ratings... ;)

With regards to the op, in an ideal world all players would have an equal regard or disregard for their rank, but this is not an ideal world so that isn't the case. There are indeed lot's of officers who will warp a game to stop a pfc from winning and I don't think that will ever change.

If you want a few mass-melee games in which people couldn't give a <censored> about their ranks, then give me a call.

On the other hand, the game chat might be a little blue, so if that kind of thing isn't your bag then it might not be for you.

Anyway, let me know.

try some team games... my best friend made me join the site because he was frustrated with alliances, secret alliances, missed turns, people not breaking bonuses, etc... he figured if he played more team games, it would eliminate most of those external factors, and at least you knew someone was going to play well in the game. i enjoy team games far more than standard games, and would suggest your giving them a shot. good luck!-0

p.s.-i think he meant rank, not ratings...

The easiest solution is to play team games. If your team is better, and maybe more importantly work better as a team, then you will win the vast majority of games.

I do play a lot of team games, but even those tend to have their issues if you end up with a noob.

Suicide yourself on every high ranked player in the game, make sure a cook or somesuch wins if you can. Trust me the hoccifers will thank you for it and welcome you to many many more games.
