Yeah just stumbling around lanyards profile, you know how it is, decided to read his most posted thread, about lt pie finding pw, etc etc, anyway found a user in the doubles game mentioned in the first post, 9( slighty confused as had never seen the user before ), checked him out, and BAM!!! "user does not exist".

just to show they clearly can delete accounts on conquerclub, they just simply cannot be f*cked..

It happens very rarely but it does actually happen...they dont like to do it...but on occasion they delete an account out of necessity. Such as that time that lack's phone number turned up as a new recruit.

And yes, there are many things that CC doesn't do that they can. For instance, changing usernames.

That used to happen all the time with busted/banned accounts - before the "Registered Users" thing was introduced.... it could be a hangover from before that change.... you never know

Pretty sure. I have seen an Admin's Panel and there are many, many options.

whoah, i didnt know they killed off jeff, thought they just made him a guest, wonder when they will kill off FRED?

I remember awhile back, there were a bunch of game site advertisers and they would mass PM people about, there were at least 10 of these accounts and they're all deleted now, I know at least 2 from PM's I never deleted.

Unfortunately changing names requires a little more than a few options---since we also have data for the game engine, not just the forum side of the website. The two are tied together.

Yeah, that is what I was thinking. So it is possible, but would be a lot of work and confusion.

Indeed. We've had problems in the past with changing all the back history of a user---all the previous games, log entries, etc---and sometimes the engine would be unable to recognize change overs---or at times one server could be working with one account name, and another server with the old account name. It creates more problems and headaches than it usually would fix.

And then there is the whole other side of the argument about a user should be tied to their name/history, but I'm speaking directly from a mechanical and technical side.

I personally am against it, unless it is only capitalizing a letter or something very minor. You wouldn't be able to tell who is the same player or user anymore.

yeah, i definately agree with that lany, thats what i was thinking a while back when i first joined and read all the FAQ's

Wouldn't lack have to go through the DB and change it there too?

Of course there would be a history of name changes---but agreed, it probably isn't the best idea, which is why Lack hasn't given it much thought over the years.
