I have about 10 games in the stage I like to think of as 'relaxed builds'. My mind kinds of flits between total despair (as I really do prefer an open game) and a kind of drugged-up contentment..."Yeah man, its like a glacial game of Risk. Things are happening you know, but, like...
slowly."
While I am not playing in 'the longest game ever' I am becoming something of an expert at long games. I felt terribly proud yesterday, because I finally managed to secure my first bonus in this 8 man no cards on round 143. Patience is indeed a virtue..if you play high level no cards singles.
Game 3423480Much as I love 2.1, I think it is a terrible map if it has some v.skilled standard players on it. I have to admit it just locks around round 60. But those 60 rounds are great fun, so I'm pretty much taking the view that once it locks completely the game is done, the empires have been built, the UN has been formed (after a messy league of nations attempt around round 35) and the empires are just sitting around waiting for a Star Trek-like space age. It keep me sane anyway!
Are these games a complete waste of time? Probably. But am I prepared to throw them to someone else? Absolutely not! Luckily I still have the trips, 8 man dubs and speed games to keep the blood pumping a little...
