The Definition of a Bad Teammate

So I start this game with an apparently well-known and loved player, johnnyrocket24.

Check out the game: 5422896.

The chat transcript is only what you see - anyone wants to see the abuse heaped upon me in the team chat too, send me a PM.

No team communication, no actual discussion of strategy - just flaming, all game long. I did my best, but on the last few turns he spread himself so thin that yellow got his cards, and then me. Sigh!

Fellow conquerors beware.

Anyways, what's the worst team game, or funniest/worst teammate you've had the misfortune to team up with? I wanna hear it!

You probably made a bad move but if he wasn't telling you what to do then he has no reason to get upset about it. Sometimes newer players don't listen at all and that is pretty aggravating but even situations like that don't deserve such a mean response.

Ah well. Let that be a lesson to you.

When your shopping for a Johnny Rockets, choose quality over quantity.

:p

Johnny Rockets

( Now with 1/2 the bitterness of the previous models! )

even if you do make a bad move your teammate should stand up for you and try to get you out of the situation not attact you verbal

I'm not defending the way JR acted, but someone not understanding escalating in a game with you (team or not) is the most infuriating thing on this site.

JR24 was one of the best teammates I've ever played a game with, it's almost as if he could read my mind at times.

Game 5335640

There was actually practically no team-chat at all.

Next time you post a thread like this razz, do the decent thing and put a link in the number. I am far too busy too go finding games because you a) cannot be bothered or b) are too stupid to do so.

If he was thin, you should have dropped on him to try to prevent the wipes. Also, at least the way I play dubs, you were attacking the wrong opponent for the majority of the game.

Dude. Get over it. It seems that you didn't really play a good double game here. And if you join a game with an experienced player, well, if you don't know what you're doing they may get upset. (I've gotten plenty of harsch words, and rightly so, for my inability to play seq./standard games.) JR is a good team player, but his style is a bit too defensive if you ask me. I suggest you listen to the advice and have a good reason for not following it if you turn a doubles game into a one man show.

the guy forted me nothing the entire game. not 1 army. His first instructions to me was to attack a neutral and 2 of his countries to claim a 2 army bonus. Now this noob has no idea and doesnt realize that attacking all that is probably going to cost us 4-5 rounds of bonuses just to break even to cover all the loses from taking it. By than the card value will be over 12 armies. So why even bother taking it? Well to him it was the number 1 objective. So he took all the armies that I forted him and all his armies and took the bonus. He cashed in on the bonus for 2 rounds and kept all the armies trapped in behind his countries so he could not use them and refused to fort me anything to even get a card. His response was....look at my game history, I know how to play"....rofl. I guess my game history meant nothing to him. Than he responds, well you dint tell me what to do. Like I got time to post instructions in 200 active games because some noob cant use commonsense.

yeah, you did pretty poorly in that game... no wonder JR was pissed... you shouldn't take control if you don't know how to handle the war machine...-0

JR shouldn't have been so abuse, but from what I can tell you really weren't playing very good.

I figured the thread would go this way - its about a 50/50 split. I appreciate all of your opinions.

Either I played bad, or he did. Not a huge deal to me (someone said "Dude, get over it"), just figured I'd drop a line and let some peeps know. Who likes getting abuse for days, until the game ends?

As to not linking the game, sorry - I didn't think of that :/

um, no, i don't think it was 50/50... i believe the consensus was that you played poorly, and that JR may have overreacted... so, you did indeed play poorly, as JR said, it is just his reaction that a few questioned... please don't walk away from this thread thinking that you played well in that game, because you didn't... next time ask for help in chat or a PM with the game number attached and linked properly, so that your team member can give you a helping hand or some advice to possibly follow/consider. you could have learned something from JR, but instead you ended up on his foe list and a few foe lists of people that saw this thread... not me! i don't believe in the foe list!! good luck in the future...-0

It's an escalating game, so gaining cards and helping your team mate to gain cards trumps any bonuses you could fight for. Bonuses are generally eschewed unless they're obtainable through the acquisition of one region, or in rare instances two regions. Minus all the cussing there's some good advice in the team chat log, always attack your opponents in preference to your team mates, don't waste troops on bonuses that won't be worth much once the trades start rolling in and try to fort troops to your team mate in time for him to attack his intended target.

If a person plays well or not does not change the fact, that there is no need to respond the way JR did. After all it is just a game.

That's what I got out of it Artimis. My gratitude for offering advice in lieu of just heaping more blame. That was one of the points of this thread - what to do differently? When a teammate is that hostile, your last inclination is to throw your troops at him, and risk a vindictive waste.

Yellow had a lucky card set, with 3 cards. If it wasn't for that, we would've taken him out on our next turns. He only had around 6 or 7, 1-troop territories. If only!

No where near 50/50. I want some of what you've been toking, or didn't they teach maths at your school? General consensus you played extremely poorly, and didn't play as a team player at all. I don't think Johnny overreacted. You were been deliberately dense and short sighted, costing you both. If it wasn't deliberate Mr "I know how to play" then I fear for your safety. You might think you know how to fly with cardboard wings..........

Doubles is a pretty simple game that doesn't need much team chat. Do yourself a favor and please foe me, as if you ever end up on the same team as me, I would say much more and in a harsher fashion.

If you want to play dbs find a regular partner that thinks like you, and communicates in the fashion you wish to.
