How to improve your dice

Don't like your dice? Here are some tried and true secrets from good players (myself not included -- ;) ).

1. Limit attacks. If you cannot attack with at least 3 dice, you have cut your chances a LOT.
If I attack 2 with 2 dice or 1 with 1 di, I have under a 50% chance of winning -- NOT 50%, but LESS. Why? because the defender wins ties!
Having 3 dice balances that out a bit. ONLY WITH 3 DICE do you get a greater than 50% chance of winning.

2. Think of losing. Not every attack wins. Think about where you will be if you lose. If you will be much worse off, then consider not attacking. If you feel like you are in a "losing streaK" .. fiction or not, just stop. You may not get ahead, but at least you won't be further behind.

3. READ the legend and pay attention to the map characteristics. On some maps, bonuses are very, very critical (Arms Race!, for example). On other maps (world 2.1, for example), its more about territory. This is where individual strategy guides will help, though not all maps have them.

4. Do NOT use auto-attack, except in Freestyle (where speed can be of an essence) or when you can afford to lose ALL but 2 armies in the attack. Sometimes you will!

5. Spoils and bonuses are important, but losing 15 armies because you have to take that 2 army bonus or get that 4-10 spoil bonus will make you lose far more surely than a red set in Flat Rate spoils. Dice change.

6. Remember that with over 1,000,000 dice throws every day or two, those "million to one" shots are pretty common.

Note, this is just a start. I will modify if needed later.

Please note that none of these excellent strategies actually improve your dice. They only improve your chances of winning.

The title should be: How to deal with bad dice

There is no chance to improve your dices(well only if you can change dice program in your favore).
Its same like murphy law--if you going to get bad dices, then you will get bad dices. And this you can not improve ;)

I think I know that. Though my first point actually does explain a big misconception. (that you ought to win 2 vs 2 50% of the time)

I wrote this because I saw YET ANOTHER person complain about "bad dice" when even I could see dice were not really the issue. A large number of people who complain about "bad dice" strangely find that their dice get better as their strategies improve.

I usually polish my dice with butter before I roll. I think it improves their spin and gives me more 6's.

The first one improves your dice. Attack when you're rolling 3 dice.

Yes, reading the game log is very important. I have a lot of people loosing on my aor2 games cuz they don't know that they best take resource pairs and villages.

Well seems like this thread is a bit misleading. There are no ways to "imporve it", these are just ways to prevent losing if you do get bad rolls. If you assault at a 2.5 on 1 ratio, you'll get through like 99% of the time. Just don't play on days when you're mad or very busy cause then, you'll most likely screw up.

Except in situations where you can attack with 2 dice vs one dice. Though your odds of winning may not be as great, if you have many open shots, it may well be worth the risk. Further, if you absolutely need to break a bonus, it may very well be worth it. You just have to do so carefully and in the right place.

2. Think of losing. Not every attack wins. Think about where you will be if you lose. If you will be much worse off, then consider not attacking. If you feel like you are in a "losing streaK" .. fiction or not, just stop. You may not get ahead, but at least you won't be further behind.

Never think of losing.
since it is possible that the human mind may actually be able to influence electrical systems with its electrical output, you should probably have a positive attitude when hitting attack. Always think of winning when you hit the button. I somehow doubt you can influence a server, through a Pc, through the interent, that pulls dice out of a random number generator, but what do you have to lose. At the very least youll have a positive attitude. :D

3. READ the legend and pay attention to the map characteristics. On some maps, bonuses are very, very critical (Arms Race!, for example). On other maps (world 2.1, for example), its more about territory. This is where individual strategy guides will help, though not all maps have them.

If playing against me on world 2.1 go for the bonuses. ;) Though, that actually sometimes can be your savior.

4. Do NOT use auto-attack, except in Freestyle (where speed can be of an essence) or when you can afford to lose ALL but 2 armies in the attack. Sometimes you will!

ALWAYS use auto attack[b] if you are attacking with a 4, unless you just want to wound an army. The dice could be streaky, which means you could get many wins with auto attack, that you might not get with regular attacks, and since auto attack will only continue if you are winning, there is nearly no reason not to use it when attacking with a 4 against a bigger pile, unless of course if killing that entire pile is not the goal.

Also, lifes too short. Use it whenever the outcome doesnt really matter, and only use attack when the game, or the attack really matters. It might cut into your win rate, but it wont cut into your life time as much. :D

One that you may want to add, is DO NOT CLICK ATTACK EMOTIONALLY Dont just attack and attack because you are losing so many. Though its just as likely to produce a win, you should make every attack because its a good attack, and not just because youre mad that your 7 didnt kill a 2. Wasting another 15 armies wont really help the previous roll. (this is easier to preach than practice).

I modified some of them for you. I dont recommend anyone takes all of it seriously though.

The red parts are very true. The blue part is entirely dependent on scale. If you're attacking with 5v2, you'll win around 78% of the time, wereas if you attack 500v200 (same ratio) you'll win more than 99.99999999999999% of the time.

I want to see someone stack 500 troops on a territory then hit someone else who stacks 200 troops on a territory badly.

50v20 is, perhaps, a more realistic number. That attack has a 99.98721% chance of success.

This has worked for me in the past, although in more recent times I fear that Loki took the form of a goat and I sacrificed himself to him. I fear this because of my poor luck in these trying times, I have sacrificed more goats but to no avail.

Any suggestions?

I "think" good dice. Sometimes I have to wait a little until a "bad server wave" of bad dice has passed before I make my roll. And sometimes the dice gods just want to mess you up bad so you're not that cocky (although they like that too, they are strange...)
