Conquer Club

Who, from Conquer Club, have you met in Real Life? Because of CC. Was it odd? Cool? Freaky? Willing to share? Is this the right forum for this? Have another thread already on this? Screw it. I’ll just jump in and see what happens.

I think one of the reasons, as a Nets Drifter, I haven’t posted much here at CC in my first two months is the whole people connection. I don’t know anyone. I’m not involved in running commentaries together with others or ongoing humor. Why is that? Firstly, because I’m new and that takes time. Secondly, because it takes time and I’m still trying to figure out maps, and bombardment, and extra bonuses, and why my troops die in the snow (don’t they know to wear winter boots?!?!) and whether a map and game type should be “chained” or “no spoils” or “black light mood lighting for a sexier experience” or “diet cola with lemon.”

Frick. There is a lot. But I’ve read much between turns and games and it’s pretty clear that many of you have a pretty strong connection with others here (good and bad it seems). I’m just wondering over the years how many of you have… erm… hooked up… so to speak.

I started posting regularly at numerous sites when I was 17. Over the years I’ve met probably 10 or 12 posters in person. It was always weird. Not only were they different than I imagined (and I to them I’m sure) but we didn’t have our context anymore. It was almost like it was easier to communicate via the message board in our poster’s personas than face to face. I must admit I’m not very interested in that any more. It’s like my brain has two equal but separate modes: The Nets and RL. Anywho, back to the questions at hand:

- Who have you met?
- Who would you like to meet?

Lol ive met a few people from CC, all awesome guys

Was going to meet up with a load more, and probably will in the future

A bunch of us got together several years ago. It was before CC was around, but we got together because of Risk. There were probably about 15 of us. We met up in Canada, and we came from all over. One family came from Scotland, I traveled from Florida. We had a great time. What made it easier was we were using Teamspeak when we played so that took some of the apprehension out of it.

and tons of other CCers at the 19th annual TOC. Those were the only names I knew before the tournament, but I met several others and then some people I met at the tournament joined CC as well. It was a great time!

Unfortunately, I still haven't met JR. We just missed each other at the 20th annual TOC, because we came on different days. Tis a crying shame!

i have only gotten to meet one person..and I will let him tell if he wants it to be known

but if we put up a thread of who we want to meet..possibly there was one..can not remember now...lol but I have quite a few I WANT to meet!

had some phone calls with a few (and a video conference), but never met anyone.

I've never met anyone from here that I didn't already know (I know 2 players in RL). I played an RPG on another site and I met a person from there and it was weeeeeiiiiird. I was tempted the other day to pop into where THE ARMY works to say hi (he had said I could), but my previous experience with meeting someone from a site was so icky that I didn't want to chance it.

always wanted to meet up with lfaw for some reason, he sounds like an awesome bloke..

I've met up with a few, mostly just others that don't frequent the forums, but rather, are friends I've brought in and we met up.

There's a couple I want to meet, but so many I don't.

I like the weird stories. Can’t say I’ve ever had a meet that made me go: “ick.” But I have a pretty good guess that if I would have met up with guy I teamed up with in Halo from Ontario it would have been just that. Serious ick potential there I think.

With one I played Badminton, hes now one of my best RL friends

Another I went to the pub with and had a few drinks. A third I met up in London went to a club.

It's not a criticism, I've just never had a list and I'm curious.

they are people I have come to know over the last few years since joining cc.... I have many many more ..like koolbak, glide..soo many as I said earlier... just friendly people ,great friends!
