I am sort of a newbie... any advice as to which map is the most fun to play on for six players? Good strategy, but not overly complex. Thanks in advance

Just play a couple of games on any map that looks interesting. Everyone has their own preference; you will never know which map really suits you until you've tried them all.

I'd try maps such as Midgard, American Civil War, San Francisco and any of the USA maps.

These maps all have some sort of different gameplay option that isn't challenging but makes it a but more interesting. (such as: one-way attacks, capital bonuses, etc.)

Once you get comfortable with these maps and ones are their level of intensity, try some conquest maps like Feudal War or an Age of Realms game, just to try it out. Beware though, they get addicting fast.

Have fun :)

I'm glad you know how to play midgard! I have no clue on that map. I play AoR1 and win a lot on it.

British Isles 2 is a good one for starting to branch out from classic - it only has one feature that isn't standard gameplay, and that's a one-way wall. Midgard also has just one one-way attack. Then I'd suggest moving onto San Francisco as Insomnia said.

If you're looking for maps with no special features, try Canada (a very popular map) or Australia. Iceland is good in the sense that it's standard, but the layout means that gameplay is a bit more interesting. France is also very popular.

That's an excellent one for new-ish players. Especially if they are from that country (which most here are). It's simple, and easy-to-read, with sharp lines, bright colours, and exceptional contrast. It also has the "perfect" number of territories, at 42. That's right., if I had to sell one map to a new player, it would definitely be the USA map.

He means just USA. As in, that's the whole title. gg owen, gg.

Castle lands is kind of fun. New World is boss later on. Charleston's a good team map.

With an studious approach and tenacity through early losses, you'll find that conquest maps: Feudal War, New World and Oasis are really, really quite fun and the game play possibilities are endless.

I'd still play if france was the only map.

As to the OP. France is good for 6 players singles games. So is classic ofc. Asia is a bit of a change up because its bigger and more hidding spaces, its fun sometimes. I love american civil war, but only play dubs on it, playing 6 players standard on it seems like using a 15 year old bottle of scotch to make a mixed drink : ) San fran is also good for 6 player singles. India. Canada, these are all "standard" maps. Not fancy tricks, no bombardments, no fuedal style of neutrals everywhere. Except on san fran there's one quirk, alcatraz. Germany is another standard type, oldy but goody. Europe is ok, but kinda big compared to classic. Lots of others.
