Just bringing this up because we can learn something from an unusually short night period.

I don't see why everyone thinks and investigator would have a Night 0 action. Think about it, an investigator is the last role that you want to give an early action to if you are the mod. It is game-breaking. For one, since no one has even posted yet, the cop is just randomly picking who to investigate, which is not how investigations are supposed to run. And if the cop gets really lucky and actually finds scum, it would ruin the game for the scum player. How would you like to read, "confirm. hey guys, cop here, player X is scum. Got him night 0." Player X becomes the instant lynch target before he ever even posts. How f*ed up would that be?

If you ask me, Night 0 is meant for the cult faction (assuming there is one). Rather than risk the possibility of losing day 1, he gave the cult leader one early recruit. And if there is only one action Commander needs to receive, that easily explains why night 0 was so quick.

And lastly, herk is right. If you have any inkling of who the cop might be, keep it to yourself. Even if you are wrong, you could cause the death of a townie due to your carelessness.

I wasn't speculating on who was a cop, I was speculating on who I think is not a cop. Either way, the choices are not narrowed by much.

Personally, I somewhat agree with Fuzzy in a sense. I do think that Night 0 should have gone the whole 24 or 48 hours. Ending it prematurely causes confusion. But every mod has his style I suppose.

What the f*ck, man? Are you trying to put the attention on cops or what? Seriously, why would you do that?

I agree with Herkyderky's arggesive questioning for once. You may say that you're trying to find out who's not a cop but THAT JUST MAKES IT EASIER FOR MAFIA TO KILL OUR COPS. There is no town reason to try to guess who has what role besides who is scum and who is town (unless it is late in the game and you need to get out a specific faction (Which it's not)).

Trying to guess at the setup, or who the night 0 people were, is in my opinion premature. There are far too many options right now, so it's kinda pointless. However when we do get more useful info from deaths and scenes, we can. At this point in time, trying to guess if there are multiple mafias, town groups or whatever is basically a waste of time.

We should be looking at the usual, ie people's behaviour. In regards to giving inexperienced players free passes, I'm not a huge fan, but you can usually tell when a scumtell is instead a tell of inexperience.

Hey guys! I think night 0 is not of much importance. Do not worry about it now. A real game will begin later on.

Yeah, but on the other hand, if we give them a free pass, how will they ever learn?

Then again, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to put pressure on one of the more quiet people, has anyone kept tabs on the submariners? (I'm too lazy)

The game started not even 2 days ago and you want to look for scumariners? Sounds like someones a bit edger to get a target for lynch.

48 hours is plenty of time on conquerclub to check the fora and post even so shortly before new year's eve. A complete lack of posts in that time is, though not clear-cut scummy, at least noteworthy.

safariguy5 wrote:Ok, if you really want someone who hasn't posted yet MeDeFe, Iliad hasn't said anything if I remember correctly.

You're right, Iliad hasn't posted anything yet, well, he hadn't when you posted, at least he got active now. But your post on metagaming is quite unlike you and surely the biggest blip on the radar to date. First you point to the explanation why it's not a good idea for cops to come forward, if they indeed had actions on Night 0. http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=213&t=133592&start=135#p2937445
Then you effectively go digging for the potential candidates who had Night 0 actions, apparently still under the premise that they be cops. http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=213&t=133592&start=165#p2938513
You're an experienced enough player that this can't be written off as noobiness, so I will vote safariguy

Firstly I think you are reading way too much into the N0 and secondly the conclusions you are trying to draw from it are no only horribly uncertain guesstimates but also thoroughly unwanted (at least at this point in time).

Mr. Squirrel wrote:I don't see why everyone thinks and investigator would have a Night 0 action. Think about it, an investigator is the last role that you want to give an early action to if you are the mod. It is game-breaking.

Actually not. Some mafia cultures regularly starts their games with a night phase to allow events to take place before talking/voting starts as they think it promotes better discussion as opposed to the mainly random BWs that is usually the trademark of a game that starts with a day phase. It's not a game breaker as long as the Mod plans for using a N0 phase (be it a limited one or not).

I'm not sure it was specifically a cult recruit only but I do agree that it is likely to have been a very limited number of people that had a N0 action and that the length of N0 holds no relevance.

On a neutral note, I would like to say that you shouldn't go easy on me for being new. I'm sure most of you are experienced enough to see the difference between a noob tell and an actual scum tell. But really, just because I'm new doesn't mean you should just ignore me.

Back to the game, I'm not posting anything for now. I'll reread everything again, and will be more carefull on what I'm saying. Don't wanna confuse anyone any further...

As promised, I have reread the whole thing. Let's try this again...

In the entire thread, safari seems the most eager to point out mistakes or jump on people for tells. He is also playing double standards, accusing some people of acting scummy, while there are others doing the exact same thing.

Al by al, I feel he is trying to 'guide' everyone into a lynch, advocating a bandwagon.

So until I change my mind, unvote

ps noob questionl: That would only have safari at 2 votes, and this could start a bandwagon on him? I don't know if that's what we want. Also, am I right that I can use the vote as a means of pressure to either have someone defend themselves, or give them away?

Could it start a BW? Bandwagons are anytime someone racks up lots of votes really fast. One may form, or maybe not. There are a lot of factors to it.

And you are right about the votes. Thats what they are for. You put pressure to get more information out of someone.

And your vote seems pretty sound too. Safari definitely has been all over the place so far.

How exactly have I been "guiding people into a lynch? I do believe that we shouldn't end Day 1 on a no lynch, but I haven't exactly been advocating that we lynch a certain person. Most of my posts have been over the relatively short night, which was also noticed by fuzzy. So I'm not alone in that respect. In no way was I saying that we should lynch someone in those posts.

Basically, I'm reading your post as a slightly more thought out OMGUS.

So, now that I have posted that list, I will post my early analysis of possibly scummy posters. Click to see their posts.

Really worries me. I don't know if he is new to the mafia scene or not, but seems scummy to me.

Has contributed absolutely nothing. A few jokes and joke votes, but that's it... I think she is a better player than this...

Has contributed absolutely nothing. Two joke votes...

Seemed to have a pretty good grasp of the "zombie" faction. Also seemed to fish for the cop a little bit... Not looking to good so far...

Seems to know exactly how long it takes for someone to change from being a human... How would he know this? Why would he hypothesize on this?

Nothing but some early joke material.

One post, seems like he isn't saying much.

One post, joke vote.

Two posts, nothing of substance.

Votes almost as many times as he posts.

Also, Commander9, can you explain this? Was the numbering a mistake?

Commander9 wrote:Yet another night has gone through to the lone survivors. No one felt safe, no one felt assured of what the future had promised to them... Some very intelligent, some very nice looking, some very fugly, some didn't even look too human... Only after realizing that there were only 22 of them left, they've noticed a half chewed body of Paris Hilton - the sight was not very nice...

Geez, you couldn't even be bothered to name the ones you found scummy or put together an actual case (or semblance of one) against either of them. Helpfulness does not increase linearly with the amount of posts (or accusations) you make...

That's about Vio right? This is only my 3rd game with her but I don't think she is (sorry Vio O:) ). And while I agree that she hasn't contributed much I don't see what she has done that could be seen as scummy either.

If posting without substance or getting easily sidetracked was scum tells then you'd be top on the "I'm looking scummy" lists in every game tbh. :P
