Mystery Killer Mafia Endgame

Time for another insane game before I go on a bit of a hiatus.
If this is successful we could have another nice little RT game to play whenever we can get those going again.
And to be fair to your sanity this time it's a *gasp* OPEN SETUP!
I've finally found a game to put my "Overeager Targeter"* role in, hopefully this hasn't been done before.

*as seen in "Quick Bad Game" last year
viewtopic.php?f=610&t=172876&hilit=quick+bad

Everyone in the game thinks they have the same role;

Town? Overeager Targeter
Once per night you must target someone with your action, if you are town, this action does absolutely nothing, but you are required to preform it.

But here's the catch! One or two of you will be Serial Killers, you will not know this if you are. If this is the case, whomever you target will die.

Working blindly you must try to eliminate the SK if you are town, or try not to get lynched before eliminating/equaling the town if you are the SK.

I will take 7-14 players. if we get 9 or less there will be one killer, 10 or more there will be two.

Rules
1. No editing, no deleting.
2. No talking after death.
3. No secret communication.
4. Lynches are forced if there are votes on the table.
5. "No lynches" are accepted if a majority is reached.
6. Days are 3 RL days long. Nights are 3 RL days long. No extensions.
7. I don't care if you miss days, but missing your mandatory action will result in a mod-kill, no exceptions. (you can send a name in advance if you don't think you can't make it.)

Bwahahahaaha!!!!
This might be too good to pass up.
/in please. If everyone is an overeager targeter, and the SK's don't know who they are initially, then how will we catch them????

We have enough to get started, but I'll leave it open for a few more days.
I'll probably start this on Wednesday regardless of the number of players.

I'm calling broken setup.

Everyone just targets the name below them on the list. Lynch SKs.

Now now, don't think you can get away with a head start to discussion that easy... ;)
I've thought this out, but if you think you can beat the setup, you're welcome to sign up.

Except nobody will do this. Because nobody will want to be found as SK. And since nobody knows whether they are SK, nobody should take the risk.

You are welcome to try, but know that I will lie. Every day.

Meh, looks like it's already full... I'll join if you decide to let in more, but otherwise I'm happy to reserve (:

(Though reserves probably won't be used eh...)

So as town, you would play in a pro-SK way?

That's what I call a policy lynch-target.

Am I town?
Are you town?

I'd rather not discuss strategy with others, but I'll point out the obvious for you.

During the first night nobody will know anything and nobody will want anyone to know anything about them because everyone is potentially a murderer. After that you can take a good guess at whether your action kills people or not, at which point you can adapt your strategy. If I discover I am not killing anyone, I will play in a pro-town way. Until then, I'm afraid I'll have to play as third party. And if I do turn out to kill people, then why, yes, I will play pro-SK.

Innocent until proven guilty. 90% likely yes. Pick your favorite defense.

I have a great quote from RainbowDash over at MafiaScum who spends almost all his time breaking Open Setups:
"Any town not organized to proceed with a highly organized plan doesn't deserve to win anyways"

Nobody knows they're town until after night 1, though. And lying during day 2 is necessary in order to ensure your own survival regardless of your alignment... especially since all lynches in this game will be based on wifom and only wifom.

However, I haven't seen you on the signup list yet. You think you can beat a universal anti-town strategy? Good luck.

Either everyone plays along and the SKs lose or it's totally random lynch patterns.

I could eliminate any knowledge of me being SK by having my sister do the random.org target and pm and play as if I were town.

Why would I want to play a game where I can win 100% with a strategy that players are too obstinate to use, or ~100% lose because I have no information whatsoever to base my lynches on?

See Quantum Werewolf for an experiment very similar to this. However, the creator realized the importance of a cop if there are no hints about the scum.

Of the two options, I would pick the second. Also, ~100% in this case is around 87%.

It's a prisoner's dilemma. If the rest of the town plays according to your strategy, I can increase my personal winning odds by lying to town in order to determine if I am the serial killer. If the rest of town lies, I have no interest in playing along as that would put me in a position of disadvantage.

So there you have it. And sign up already.

The thing is the order has to be decided day 1 before you know whether or not you are SK.

Now the second option. Let's all just random.org our lynches everyday and random target at night. I can do that in R without needing to play mafia.
