So there I was, back in school and already too bored to pay attention, with a blank piece of paper before me. Before I knew it, I'd drawn a board, and this thing resulted:

http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/9415/reversegowo3.png

I'd like to test this game, see if it's any fun, etc. I've played against myself, but that's a tad predictable. Nevertheless, it does seem to have some potential.

This is how it works:

There are four players. You are either X, O, E, or T. X goes first, and you take turns clockwise (so T goes last). You can place a "piece" anywhere that is up to two spaces away (on a diagonal, horizontal, or vertical) from any of your other pieces. So, basically, any square two spaces away is legal, as long as it isn't a chess-knight move (in case you play chess).

If you surround another player's piece with two of your own, that piece becomes your own. However, you can NOT do this to a whole row of pieces, but only to one at a time. So, for example, if you had Ea, and another player had the rest of the E row (except for Eg), and you placed a piece at Eg, you would NOT gain control of any other pieces. If, on the other hand, your opponent only had Eb, and you placed a piece at Ec, then the piece at Eb would become yours.

You win by having the most squares at the end.

That's the rules as I have them now, but like I said, I'm still testing this out. Anybody wanna give it a try?

Ok, that's four. I'll make a random list to decide who gets which symbol, and then we can start tomorrow.

suggestion: change the lettered pieces to different colored marbles. and instead of having big letter little letter for the coordinates, use a letter and number, like in chess.

also, I see potential for some way to make this into a cc map...

anyway, looks awesome, cool idea :)

Well, using letters for all three concepts could get a little confusing. What happens when E is at Ee?

Change E to S or something.

Sure, I'll make the pieces marbles. I used letters because that's what I used when I was playing against myself on paper.

As for the notation, I would have done like chess, except I wanted to be special (I'm insecure like that). Since we're only writing it down, I see no problem with it (if we were speaking, I suppose saying Ee might be confusing, but this is the Internet). If you guys really want to change it though, that's fine too.

Suggestions for rule changes are exactly what I'm looking for as we play, to make sure it's balanced and fun. If it's a success, maybe we can start playing this regularly.

So, shall we start?

Yes please! Changing the game pieces is enough; I think using caps and lowercase letters is fine for the grid.

Oh, I forgot to mention. You can't move on an occupied square. So Ee is not allowed.

The order of turns is in the first post. I need to mention it's Dito's turn in the title (though I should probably get the updated image up first).

OK, I went Cd.

In case you haven't noticed, updated images are on the first page (link to the post is in the first post).

I'm also going to be adding a piece-count later.

Animo said Ed, not Ee... you might want to rethink your move in that light, Ink.

Oh, shit. Pcm, would you have a different move if I went Dd instead?
