Who thinks that having fantasy maps from some book where the author wants to make it seem really real (bloody lameass), is taking things a bit too far?

If it is a balanced map... does the inspiration really matter?

Its nice to have fantasy maps, even if they're made to be real. Every map offers something new to the game, no matter how real it is. Also, its fun to play on a world that you've already experienced in book, film, or video game...and then conquer it.

What about fantasy maps that aren't to fleshed out. For example I was considering working on a Sin City map based on the graphic novels by Frank Miller. I agree with Black Jack though, real or fantasy, as long as it plays well does it really matter.
