Northern Islands (V 1.2)

Update: Version 1.2 - We added a title, legend, and backstory to the map as was suggested. We also added in a new game mechanic where territories with minerals grant an extra troop per turn.
Here is our story:
In the world of Roth'in, many groups of people have banded together to form "companies." With every company for themselves, the resources of the lands are becoming diminished, and now the companies are on the search for more. Many people have begun to hear about the legend of a beautiful array of islands to the north that have been untouched for decades, and are starting to look for ways to reach it. In the first chapter of Roth'in, we will be overwatching the battles that take place on the Northern Islands, as each company tries to claim them for their own.

Mapmaking in a nutshell = figure out a theme for your map, then fix the graphics and gameplay so they reflect the chosen theme.
Your map doesn't say much. What are the Northern islands? Where are they? Who's fighting who there? Why?
I'm also going to tell you what the foundry mods probably also will: you're going to need to prove yourself graphically, ie. that you will be able to bring the graphics up to CC standards.

I echo Natty on the whole... who, what, when where and why thing.
I think you're graphics have a good enough start at this point. Obvious we're going to have to get them up to foundry snuff, but that's what we're here for.
The big concern is the who, what, when, where and why bit though. Figure that out and we'll go from there.

Map Name – Northern Islands
Map Creators – Tunak and Kiele
Territories – 58 Regions – 9
Description: Our map provides a different setting in which players can create their own battles with the feel and play of classic risk but a unique map to change it up a bit.
Map:

Gameplay Ideas: Our thoughts are to keep the game play the same as original risk.
Changes from Original: We added in an impassable mountain range and several waterways that cannot be crossed. There are 3 bridges built in which allow you to cross the water.

Updated: We changed the graphics to boost the quality of our map's graphics wise and will be updating the thread with more information on the map itself (who, what, when, where, why, etc) soon.

Sounds good. The map is a bit dark for my tastes and also too grainy... but there's time to work on that.

On the new version, I think you should make more contrast in colors so it's easy to know where the bonuses are.

The impassable, Islands, and waterways create some pretty interesting geography, but I think you could make it look just a little more dynamic. All the edges are pretty well rounded and soft. You could represent a rocky cliff ridden coastline with more jagged shapes in some places. That's my main suggestion, look at maps of the real world and take not of the more interesting shapes like Greece, or Scandinavia. You can get with much more dynamic coastlines than the soft rounded ones on your map.
I think this idea has potential, and with a little work you could turn this into something pretty cool
