First Middle East War
This is a recreation of a more detailed middleast war with provinces from Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Egypt and pre 1947 Palestine.
There are some improvements still to be done:
- Adjustment of border lines
- Adjustment of name location
Tell me what do you think

The pre-1947 borders were determined by the British-French
Sikes-Picot Agreement in 1916, which was later rubber stamped by the League of Nations.
Before 1947 the area was called the "
British Mandate of Palestine" (which also encompassed Transjordan). "Syria" was also known as "French Mandate."
Change the font.

Whizaji...I too like the idea....I'm all for diversity of maps that we have opportunity to play. Keep Going.

Thank you for your comments guys.
Contrickster you are right about the British Mandate of Palestine. However, i think for the purpose of the game it is more appropriate to have to "continents" with different bonuses assigned to the areas.
I am going to change Jordan to Transjordan as outlined by the following map:

I don't like the idea. To much of a political overtone on a divisive issue. One of your reference urls is "The Home of Ethnically Cleansed & Occupied Palestinians". Makes me wonder what your motivation is.

I have no political aganda. The only reason why i used that is to get information on old names of provinces in Palestine. I did the same for Transjordan, Syria, Lebanon and Egypt.
I used that site to get this old map

best advice I could give you is to scrap this idea and go for something different.

Everyone is saying to scrap it and no one wants to say why and try to work something out.

Too controversial. There are enough other good themes and ideas floating around, plus the Middle East revamp in the works.

yeah pretty much what I was thinking...
that and the map looks like crap. To get support with an idea like this you would probably have to present an extremely attractive map for your first draft otherwise I don't see people going wild over a pre arab - isreal war.!? Plus the whole jerusalem for a bonus of 1 idea needs to get canned because it creates an uneven playing field in the very first round...

Well in the montreal map if you hold downtown you get a +1. The bottom line is i can rework it and improve upon it. The question is do i have your support to continue working on the map?

You misunderstood me. I didn't propose merging "Palestine" and "Jordan" into one British Mandate of Palestine. I meant you should change "Jordan" to "Transjordan" and "Palestine" to "British Mandate of Palestine" to reflect the British Mandate.
Transjordan was an autonomous district within the British Mandate.
Among the pantheon of controversial maps it's possible to do this is probably second most offensive, after Bosnia. Kashmir comes a close third with Rwanda. If it's historically accurate you may be able to get away with it, don't hold your breath though.

I will apply the changes you have suggested tonight. I appreciate your suggestions and time.

Also, find another font. Is that Times New Roman? Agh.
Also, also who's going to want Jerusalem if it's only +1 armies? The way to work up a frenzy is to make it +2. That would be more historically accurate, and make the British Mandate of Palestine more gettable too.
I still think you will struggle to get this accepted. You may need to be prepared to compromise a lot with such details as names of territories.
One last thing. The big grey blob that is Transjordan looks boring. Could we not add in the dead sea, sea of gailee, and Mountains? Perhaps you could give some of the territories of Transjordan to Syria.
Ed: okay you have the seas down. Perhaps they can be named, and a bit bigger?
Final Ed: Cut the map so we don't have that orange triangle at the bottom. It's a distraction. Also, maybe resize the map (clip it down the right) so we don't have so much grey monotony.

Add more geography - like the nile maybe, or some mountains.

Just to interpret this (as it deosn't seem you've realised)... Lack never really posts in map threads, so I'm guessing he really doesn't approve of this map and doesn't want it on his site.
It really isn't a good thing. Just pick a different idea.
edit:
If you really want to stick with this area, why not consider the ancinet levant with the tribes of Israel, Judah etc. etc.

I agree with Guiscard lack never posts so he will over rule it. go with the tribes of isrial so that you don't need to worry about so much crap. then again some people could not agree with that idea. I do like the map but every body else is against it so it most likely won't get made

but I like the idea of map of this area so try not to completly drop it.

Hi whijazi,
I believe you, that you are not looking to make a statement rather to make a good map, which is something we all do appreciate.
The thing is, the way it looks now is just too controversial for Conquer Club. The fact that the inspirational artwork came from an anti-zionist hate site illustrates how touchy the content matter is. You can try to make it non-offensive to both sides but that won't be an easy task!
I think Guiscard's idea is awesome - when in doubt, go biblical
