please see below for the map. had trouble loading it the first time.
COUNTRIES: 43. REGIONS: 8
when i started playing a month ago, i was surprised there were no maps for the Roman Empire. so here's a first go at it. though it is time non-specific, the regions and provinces are relatively exact, except where space or game structure dictated otherwise (most notably in the Balkans). i'm especially interested to see what people think about the bonuses assigned for each region, so please give me feedback. [just one disclaimer--i made this map mostly on paint, and for reasons i won't go into it would be extremely difficult to change the ocean color. so please forgive it.]
my main two resources for this map:

i like the idea. but please change the colours. for example lower germania has a different colour then the rest of the german territories. also use the magicwand to better implement the SPQR thingy. it still has white margins from it's previous background.
samus will come and tell you more interesting stuff about the bonuses. he really knows what he's saying.
edit// here's the image:

This should have the photo. If not, I might need some help figuring it out.
DiM--thanks for the response. all of the territories are purposefully different shades of the same color, thus suggesting their unity of region while simultaneously distinguishing one province from another. (i think the original board game did the same thing) i can change lower germania if it stands out too much though.
i'll also try and blend the standard in with the background a little bit better.
thanks!

Some of the countries don't have enough borders. Other than that, looks good, jsut alot like the europe map.

Really is just another Europe map to be honest. I do love the Roman Empire, but perhaps an overall map isnt the way to go. Maybe a specific area or battle?

I like the idea but it is way to borring with the currant effects and collers. sorry to say it but if it is at all possible change the ocean collor(I know you said that it would be hard but if you could that would be great) you could also make it more your own by making it set in a difforent time so that it is smaller and yo are able to focus on the aria right around the medituranian see. in short it needs alot of work but I do love the idia

We do need a Roman Empire map though, although I want to do one myself some day once I finish the Malta map.
The current Europe map is full of mistakes. I do not know how people like to play on that one. I doubt it would get quenched if it had been made today.

Here is the new image, with the annoying white background taken away from all the superimposed pictures. The ocean might be something I have to live with, unless someone can think of a way to change the color on paint without have to airbrush the whole thing in (even though it looks it, the ocean is not one uniform color, so the 'color all' function won't work on it).
Please let me know if you think the bonuses are off, and whether an historical Rome map is worth having while the somewhat different Europe map is also in existence.
Thanks!

You will never complete a map in paint. Download Gimp, Fireworks or photoshop (if you are rich or criminal). There is no way you can just not change features because paint won't allow it.
