well i know i'm new to conquer club but i can't resist making my own map :)

anyway here's what i have so far:

Image

a moon map hasn't been tried before has it?

Also i didn't want to go down the sci fi route, what do people think of that? would i be better off doing something more sci fi?

All i have so far is the continents, which if anyone has ideas for the territories in them and the names then pleae make suggestions ;)

good start... it's too wide tho, cut it down to 800px and you will be all set.

I imagine the legend will go underneath the title. But ya, probably a good idea to cut it down…

Beats the mars map by a long shot.

lol i thought about making a mars map, i'll take a look at the mars map to make sure i don't make the same mistakes that they did.

Also i'm thinking 42 territories for the map?

I think this map look great, but I do think that it would be better served with more muted continent colours, like the Middle East Revamp map.

The bright colours just dont suit the moon.

Other than that, great map, keep working on it.

I just thought I could offer a few unpassable border suggestions, and some possible continent bonuses. Since I have a hard time articulating such things, I thought I would offer you a picture instead…

sorry hecter i was working on while you posted.... i hadn't thought about impassable borders though.... i don't like them much but maybe on such a condensed map like this then they would be quite useful.

anyway i am useless at names so please don't just flame them, i am open to suggestions for names!

Great map so far, but maybe make some of the territories a little more defined. Also, like hecter said, add some impassable boarders, and you've got yourself a sweet map.

some nice suggestions so far :)

this is just some graphical additions, i'm gonna think very carefully about where i put impassable borders. I was thinking of making some of them one way, where the rocky bits become smooth craters it could be so you can move into craters only in some places but not out of them? i think i defenitely need some.

Also how could i show these impassible barriers? i don't want to cover up too much of the detail on the image of the moon.

Hm, a moon map was tossed around before, but no one could get something going. So it will be interesting to see how this goes!

But first off, I think you are going to run into some trouble. You've got two elements currently working against each other, as I see it. The old parchment and the look and feel like that of a map Galileo might have made, but then with a bright vibrant colors that aren't period-esque...along with a moon map that seems too real, rather than what would've been drawn or painted. I think you've got to commit to either one of directions, as using both looks...crappy. :)

actually the image i used for the moon was a carving done from telescope observations in 1679. so the detail is ok ;)

i agree about the colours though.

I think more hand drawn or painted style for the gameboard would be more appropriate, if you are going to have it on the paper. ;)

I agree, either go with the old feel or the hi-tech feel, but not both. Would be so sweet if you could do something like those 3d screen they had in starwars.

Also, if youve seen guiscard's mongol map, you may want to do the impassable borders like his Gobi desert.

sooo......

+ change the borders so they are less colourful and more defined.

+ Add impassible borders / one way borders.

+ generally have less colour on the map.

+ add names for the territories.

+ add armies circle thingies.

also: no idea what you mean about the 3d screens... but i think i'll go with the old style anyways.....

In the second one, I'm thinking of the time when obiwan points to a giant 3d map and says 'this is where the planet should be'.

i lke the original image- i actually really like the combination of textures and colours. however these latest versions with the bright territory divides are horrendous... i agree with andy- pick a theme and keep to it. and make it unique, dont just copy keyogis parchment theme.
