Jamaica! v1

Well the idea to do a map based on Jamaica originally came from looking at which letters of the alphabet are yet to be used as a title for a conquerclub map :P but I really do think this works as a map.

There are 14 territories on the map at the moment however I intend to add two sea territories in the bottom right of the area.

THIS MEANS THERE WILL BE 16 TERRITORIES ALL TOGETHER

My current plan for bonuses is:

Orange area +3
Green area +4
Red area +2
Capital which will be linked to sea route and is one of the territories in the Red area +1

I know that this is a small map, however I personally play a lot of 8 player assassin games on doodle earth so I suppose that somewhat biased my choice of maps but as I said at the start, I really do think this works as a map.

I would appreciate feedback regarding the map and whether or not it is worth persuing - this is why I havn't made the key/etc. yet as I want to know whether my time is better spent elsewhere.

but each player gets 1 territory on 8 player games...

No they dont, please read post one...

Each player would get 2 territories no matter what.

if you had a lot of fun on doodle then you should know it has 18 terits. that's 4 more than you currently have not just 2.

anyway 14 is a crappy number because it can't be divided by 3,4,5,6 and 8. so basically any setting except 7p will mean lots of neutrals. and 8p games will be horrible because each player will get 1 terit and there will be 6 neutrals. imagine an assassin game where your target is right near you. 6v3 attack in round 1 and it's game over. so a map to even be remotely viable it has to have at least 16 terits. this way in any gametype each player will have at least 2 terits from the start.

yes i read you plan on adding 2 more but we'll talk about that when you do. until then i only see 14 :P

no chance dude...


1. There are too few territories, even if you add 2 more.

2. Paaint graphics dont work.

3. This is really nothing. you just drew a blob and put lines going through it.

4. are these territories even based on anything, or are they just lines?

yes i read youre first post perfectly, so dont say that i read it wrong. sorry man, but its not going to work.

Could be a nice small map. Lots of scope. As the territories are based on parishes there isn't a great deal of scope for more, so it would probably be worth adding some sea ones too.

One thing I can see immediately is that you're gonna have to get rid of the four way corner where the orange meets the green (i.e. can top right orange attack centre lower green?)

1. 16 territories is enough for a map to work.

2. I did not use paint...

3. That is exactly how Jamaica looks

And I didn't notice that it was a 4 way corner, I will change that in v2 (as long as people actually think this map is worth a v2).

I certainly think it worth further development, but I'd go with more than two sea territories. 18 would be the ideal number, I'd have thought, so four sea territs. Another option could be to use cities (see the Dark Ages map Castles for an example of what I mean). Maybe when you control Kingston Parish you can then attack the city, which could be divided into four territories itself (making the total 18 with no sea ones).

hmmm that sounds like a good idea.

The other option would to be to use the older version of the parishes...

16 is fine. Although if you want to design a stupid 8 player assassin freestyle lottery map without neutrals there are better ways then this. 3 continents? Are you kidding me?

If you are serious about this I'd say you should have at least 5 continents of 2 to 4 territories.

The continents are based on how Jamacia splits itself but sure, making smaller continents works.

Also, nice to see your opinion on 8 player assassin "lottery" games :D
