I've started a poland map and wondered what people think about it. I've started it and i'm wondering what people think about it and how i could improve it and if it's to big i'd need someone to tell me so i can change it.



i was thinking about having the continents spread out for a new type of gameplay but if people think this would be a bad idea i'm willing to change it.

I'll also need someone to do the XML stuff for me as all i can do is the graphics.

I have some rivers on there as unpassable borders and some have names some don't. There Geographical location has been changed slightly to better suit gameplay.

okay it needs to be much smaller, maybe merge a few places and add non passables.

Map size restrictions can be found in one of the sticky threads...somewhere. I think in the main foundry, the map handbook. And yeah, this is way too big.

Since you have a working draft, though, this should be in the draft room, not Ideas/Suggestions. One of the CAs will move it over for you shortly

should be easily made smaller maybe just a couple of changes should be able to get it in the right size. I've made it smaller will post both images tomorrow of small and large

Thanks wasn't sure as i didn't post an idea topic so wasn't sure whether to skip it or not and ,i'll look for the size restrictions

And i've taken the liberty of pulling the [Idea] tag from the title - if you add anything in [brackets] to your title at this stage it'll just confuse folks, as that's how we've been tagging maps that had already received the [Idea] stamp.

Thnx for moving it i see now and i've found the size restrictions ,and edited the size just can't post it yet not got enough time

for starters you'll want to figure out why they text is so blurry in the large version... I assume you are working on it small and resizing it for the large? Maybe go the other way around.

you need continents, a legend, the colors for all the territs is way too confusing right now for me... group the colors together, or just make them all 1 color and make dark borders or something

Maybe i should experiment with different fonts i'll try to fix that.

I'll try to find out more about the regions for the place and try to make some sort of continents with them

i unfortunately couldn't find good enough regions to make continents i found a map with regions in it but that would have made about 14 continents with 4 countries in each maybe less soi was against that idea.

Does anyone know of some continents i could split this map into?

Maybe you could form it into a Poland WWII map? "Continents" should be easy to come by then.... And it will give you more room for imagination. Though I prefer the classic style that it is now.

I think a purely geographic map is better.

I agree with Zeak, a geographic map is much more appealing to me.

Mini, i found a map of the admin. regions of Poland, this could be helpful in your map making

yh i found that image but i thought it may have tomuch continents in it but if others think thats alright i'll use that map for the continents

You know you dont have to use all of the regions, your the map-maker, you can decide if you want all of the regions or just some of them.

you don't have to use all of them, but even if you did, it could still be fun.

now if you're going for geographic realism, you need to find out where impassables could be placed... rivers, mountain ranges, former military blockades, parts where cultural differences might block people... i dunno, its up to you but those are some ideas

i've thought of the continents i want for the poland map and i'll start editing the map for them to be in.

Make sure to save room for the legend! = )

it probably won't be that that good but i'll see what you think. So far i got 8 continents that are probably going to be in it

i mean, if it comes down to it, a lot of geographical maps can just be

north, south, south east, south west etc, look at.... i think old brazil had it like that, and there are some other ones too if i'm not mistaken

I've made it a lot harder for myself as i merged down all the words onto one layer so now i've got to carefully go around the
edge of the letters rather than just going over the letters and putting the layers on top. The continents are nearlly done but i might not work on it again tonight as i'm getting a bit tired and don't want to mess it up.

Done the map with continents the borders are a bit crap but i think i'll be able to fix that. Also i've added a key but still need the amount of added units for 4 places so if you have any ideas please post what you think should be suitable.

Thanks do you have any idea what i could have for the continent bonuses for the 4 i haven't got?

I think Wielkopolski would go well with around 6 for bonus?
