Make a map not just of a castle, but also include villages / hamlets, forests, swamps, mines, crops fields... etc. Like a medieval little kingdom.
And... find a way to put the names in

i have not thought of that idea only thing is the map might need to get quite a bit bigger to be able to fit it all in with the names and everything

Could be interesting. I look forward to seeing how it develops.

cool map but put in either more castles and villages then make each castle smaller. That could help with the names.

might bee cool to place an archers tower in the middle that works kinda like the quad in CCU

How about...instead of taking over a castle...you attempt to take over a kingdom? I.E...each continent would be a specific kingdom's castle. And you could incorporate roads, villages, and various rooms of the castle, into specific countries.

Good idea but the castles might get repetitive.

i like what andy said. to keep castles from being boring, just design more than one castle. that way it's not the same for each and it keeps things interesting.
with some castles being more basic that give smaller bonuses, and others being larger that give big bonuses.
with villages and roads that link them in between. for easy castles make them give like a 1 or a 2 army bonus. and for larger more powerful castles make them worth 2-4. so you get armies for holding the territory arround the castles. but also get a bonus for holding the castle itself.
that would make the gamne more medievilish. with players attacking the countryside, but also seiging castles for their strategic importance.
sorry if thats confusing.
ps. if any of you are familiar with the different castle types from lords of the relm 2, those would be good starting points if you choose to pursue my idea. as they progress through 5 different castles. from basic wodden to mighty stone.

well i know one type of castle very well and that is what this castle map is currently based on
but yeah we could go from motte and baily on wards and upwards with farms to hold and such like
