The Community Team discussed the Top 3 maps from the public poll. We decided that Conquer 4 was the best candidate from those choices.

Congratulations to Thorthoth, who collects a GA medal and 400 credits for suggesting Conquer 4!

=D> =D> =D>

phersjm nets 300 credits for his short-listed suggestion of the Netherlands.
jmyork82 nets 300 credits for his short-listed suggestion of Woodboro.

Thank you all for your good ideas! Please turn your attention now to the State of Georgia!

So basically, you decided the winner shouldn't win. Don't bother wasting people's time with polls if they're going to be ignored.

The rules were followed exactly as posted:
  • Once the poll closes, if any suggestion has a majority of the votes, it will be accepted.
  • If no suggestion has a majority, but the top suggestion has more votes than the 2nd and 3rd place suggestions combined, it will be accepted.
  • If neither of those is true, the top 3 suggestions will be referred to the Community Team for a final decision.
If there had been a clear winner, it would have been accepted. When the top 3 are too close to call, they are referred to internal judgement. This is a pretty common method I've seen in all kinds of Conventions. Otherwise, you have to have run-off ballots and the process gets very slow and tedious.

Alternatively, just give the guy that won, the winnings.

On a multi-party ballot, a simple plurality does not mean victory. Well, it does in a shitty First-Past-the-Post system like ours, I guess, but not in more sophisticated electoral systems.

Did you ever notice that the political parties that foist First-Past-the-Post on the public, do NOT use that system in their own internal conventions?

Why say that? Because I made the cleverest, most-CONNECTive suggestion for the Connecticut tournament?
Your NW Passage idea was so tenuous it was bordering on random.
Hey, you at least got at a pity-vote from Duk, so cheer up Mr. Nescafe.

There was no pity vote. I voted for Northwest Passage because it is my personal favourite from among the maps listed.

None of the six had an overwhelmingly powerful connection to the state. All six were somewhat tenuous, but we work with what we've got. Once my favourite was off the table and we were down to the final three, I voted for C4 at least partly because I felt that the wordplay of CONNECTicut was probably more comprehensible to the average member than the other two connections.

Is he trying to insult me even though he knows I'm not reading his posts? That's embarrassing.

If we assume that Coffy isn't reading the posts (doubtful), then his correct guess about being (rightfully) insulted likely stems from his guilty conscience about is own stupidity and ineptness.
