This is a Tournament Players Association Year 2(TPA2) event, and is governed by its rules, guidelines, and judgments. All are welcome to join and participate in the association. You need do nothing more than join one or more of the TPA2 events that will be announced each Monday. IMPORTANT TOURNAMENT UPDATE AS OF 4/21 -- Smaller field, fewer maps, change in number of players per game per round

Total number of Players – 200
Total number of Maps – 50

Freemium players are welcome -- however, note that each round will consist of 4 or 5 games at a time. It would be ideal if freemium players can keep 3 or 4 open slots for this tournament while it's underway.

All games will be 4 or 5 player Standard games (depending on the round) with various settings (Deploy, Turn Sequence, Spoils, Reinf, Fog, Trench) chosen by the players at signup time. All games have a 30 round limit and a 24 hour casual round length.

ROUND 1 – Map Qualifying

During this phase, the four players that have signed up for a map will play four games, one on each person’s settings of choice, on that map. Points will be assigned based on the order of finish as follows: 1st = 5 pts, 2nd = 3pts, 3rd = 1pt, 4th = 0pts. A 1pt bonus will be given to the player who finishes in 1st if he eliminates all of the other players himself before the 30 round limit is enforced.

The player who finishes round 1 with the most points in each map group will advance to round 2. The other three players will be eliminated from the tournament. In the event of a tie, a 5th game will be played on a random map with these settings: auto, sequential, escalating, chained, sunny, no trench, 30 round limit.

ROUNDS 2 & 3 – Quarterfinals / Semi-Finals

During this phase, winners from round 1 will be randomly assigned to a group of five, with each group now consisting of five different maps. Play will continue the same as in round 1 with the only change being that one game will be played on each person’s map.

Points will be assigned based on the order of finish as follows: 1st = 8 pts, 2nd = 5 pts, 3rd = 3pts, 4th = 1pt, 5th = 0pts. A 1pt bonus will be given to the player who finishes in 1st if he eliminates all of the other players himself before the 30 round limit is enforced. All points from the previous rounds are reset at the beginning of each successive round.

The player who finishes each round with the most points in a group will advance to the next round. The other four players will be eliminated from the tournament. In the event of a tie, a 6th game will be played on a random map with these settings: auto, sequential, escalating, chained, sunny, no trench, 30 round limit.

Round 2 - 50 players, 50 maps will remain [10 groups of 5]

* Round 3 played the same as round 2, except the top two players in a group advance, to form a 4-player final
Round 3 - 10 players, 10 maps will remain [2 groups of 5]

ROUND 4 – Finals

Play continues as before, now with one group of 4 players and their maps remaining.

Points will be assigned based on the order of finish as follows: 1st = 5 pts, 2nd = 3pts, 3rd = 1pt, 4th = 0pts. A 1pt bonus will be given to the player who finishes in 1st if he eliminates all of the other players himself before the 30 round limit is enforced. All points from the previous rounds are reset at the beginning of each successive round.

The player who finishes with the most points in the final will be declared the tournament winner. In the event of a tie, a 5th game will be played on a random map with these settings: auto, sequential, escalating, chained, sunny, no trench, 30 round limit.

Round 4 - 4 players, 4 maps will remain [final group of 4]

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SIGN-UP

To sign up for the tournament, please post what map you will play on and the settings you would like to use. There is a max of four players per map so pay attention. We will do the best we can to keep the thread updated with available maps, but it’s ultimately the responsibility to sign up accurately. Signups without a map or settings will be contacted via PM, but their spot is not locked in until they update their post.

Nope -- the only limit is 30 rounds that we'll put on each game -- otherwise you can use manual deployment, freestyle turns, etc.
