Picked up a flat tire on my way to Seattle. Hopefully I can make up the time on the parries of Canada.

Hi everyone...hopes it is rollin' along well.

Updated maps and charts are up...3 games remain active on that first leg. I only posted first-leg winners on the map, simply because the others were clumped so tightly to Seattle it would have been messy. The map is just a visual to see your progress...the official mileage numbers are in the charts.

The charts include Total Mileage (in green)...along with miles to the next destination (once the first player reaches this city, the bottom two drivers are eliminated) and average miles gained per map.
The red blocks indicated which map that player is on in his journey...right now all are on Puget Sound...once you hit 500 miles the map will flip.

In the head-to-head matchups, the driver that is farther along determines the map, so if one player is still on Puget Sound, while his opponent is on Canada -- the Canada map will be in play.

I'll be sending out leg #2 within 24 hours...so fix those flat tires, put on your chains or grab a quick truck-stop meal and let's get back on the road :)

Hey,

I have a request. Could you use a game and show is the points breakdown? Not that I don't trust you to score it correctly, I just want to know how to make the most points. I tried scoring my first game, but didn't get it right.

Confused,
DS

Sounds like a great idea to me too.

i agree showing us an example scoring game would be helpful, and i have an answer for the second question
no one is eliminated until the first person in the group reaches their first CITY, not the next map. This means that no one is eliminated until the first player reaches 1053 miles, and the two that are eliminated are the bottom two in that group, not overall.

Cardinal has that right, and I will work on posting a scoring example by the end of the weekend. Good questions everyone.

Here's a sample out of Leg #1

Shaneback -- 261 miles
52 armies (territories & bonuses) + 6 armies ("owned card" bonuses) =
58 armies * 4.5 (win in 7 rounds) = 261

SouthernWarrior -- 40 miles
20 armies (territories & bonuses)
20 * 2 (lose in 7 rounds) = 40

Note: Shaneback went first, so his territory armies for round 7 were not added in (armies are only added if both players get a turn in that round of play). Also, note that armies based on cards do not factor into the mix with the exception of the "owned card" bonuses for the winning player.

SouthernWarrior doesn't receive his "owned card" bonuses because he lost the map.

Hope that helps, flex...look for a map/chart update Monday morning/afternoon

Charts updated...2 first leg games ongoing and most of the second-leg maps are still active.

The No. 1 in the red box is the number of completed legs for that player. We won't start the next leg until most of the current leg is finished.

So, just to be clear, in this game, Shaneback's armies in the 7th round didn't count because he went first, but owned card bonuses always count, even if they are played in a round where the other player doesn't get a chance to play. Is this correct?

thanks guys...glad it's a bit clearer now.

Basically winning fast is the biggest key to getting big miles, but the bonuses do factor in as well.

I'm afraid I'm on the verge of a case of major road rage. My trailer is about to jackknive somewhere in the Cascades after encountering a fluke snowstorm (the only thing worse then my cards were my dice) and am going to be overtaken by a greenhorn trucker. I think I'm in serious trouble of winning Mr. Gates money  :?

Hey plash...does this mean you can't linger in the truck stop to watch the Catamounts in the NCAAs this week?

Ha at this point my chances of making it to Alberta on time are about as good as their chances of knocking off Syracuse ;) So I'll probably be able to find some time to catch the game. (for some reason those Syracuse fans are still really angry about that whole beating them 5 years ago thing. I keep reading about how they want to crush UVM by 50 points. I'm hopeful UVM can hang around for a while and will only lose by about 20 or so.)

Maps and charts have been updated as of Saturday night...
Congrats to our early leader Woolleyy who has put in 514 miles in two legs and is about halfway to Los Angeles (his first destination)...probably about three legs left before the final two get chopped, so the time is now to make your move if you near the bottom of your group :)

Third legs going out shortly (tonight, I hope)
