Great - You are both added to reserves. Ditto send out PM's with game assignments this morning, and players will have three days to join before the reserves are called up. Best of luck to everyone...

I am glad to hear it. All games appear to be still going strong, and admittedly the combination of map and settings make for some interesting gameplay (I've played this map very very little actually, but it just fit the story!)

Now on to business... I've run a model of the various permutations of winners from each round, and as a result I've made one change to the points on the first page. Please check it out when you have a change. Any serious concerns/objections to the point setup should be posted here, or PM'd to both me and ditto. Thanks!

First two games from round 1 have finished. Congratulations to both ANewsome and jgalioto for making it out of Tull in one piece. There has been a bit of activity in the callout thread with people pairing up, but so far none have formally registered. There is still time, but because of the requirements for team competition, if we have to reform any teams, the ones to submit their team list last will be subject to adjustment if need be, so submit your team list (all four names) once its done sooner rather than later. Thanks.

Here are the teams & match-ups for round 2. Matching colors indicate two players that played against each other in Tull (e.g., b1 = bracket #1). Points for current leaders after 1 round are also listed in green.

Image

Teams 1, 3, 5 & 7 will receive a PM today with the game numbers and passwords. Please ensure your entire team has joined before sending on the password to the opposing team (who I will list again in the PM but will not cc). As you can see, games are arranged so that we have a pair from each round 1 game in each round 2 game.

Players from the left column (first team) will have one week from today to join the games. Following that, players from Teams 2 through 8 will one week (i.e., two weeks from today) to join. After recently watching Eastern Promises and being reminded with the shootout in Book 2, I was going to require that everyone fight naked his round, but I figured that rule would be impossible to enforce

Watch out for the Pusher and good luck. :D

All first teams in the round 2 games have joined. Players on team 2 will have 1 week from today to join before reserves are called up. Anyone who didn't get a PM with the game number and password to join can please let me know and I'll get it to you.

Good luck all!

ekimilil216 and fellonius have been called up from the reserves and are playing for corman and mitb who failed to join with spikey and ryal55. For jumping in in the middle of things and joining within 24 hours of getting the word from the organizers, we ekimilil and fellonius are each awarded 2 tournament points, which will put them close to the "average" score after 1 round.

Good luck all in round 2. Chart images will be updated later.

Round 2 has finished. Results are above.

Teams will have until this Saturday, October 18 midnight New York City time to get me their list of which doubles pairs they want to play together on which map (two on USA Apocalyps and two on USA Rail).

Thank you.

OK folks, here's the deal... only one out of 8 ka tet groups has sent up doubles pairs. I can see how coming up with a mix of 4 people to play with out of *32*, given the various restrictions and so on that were imposed last round was tough and why so many people needed to be randomized. However I am really a little more than frustrated by the lack of apparently effort being put in to the strategy of the tournament structure here.

As you see, there are some people higher in the points standings, and others with still no points. Organizing the doubles teams is one way to manage these numbers.

The mixed combination of people playing together is one of the key features of the tournament here. The theme is good, but if people are not appreciating the nuanced structure of the games, then I am inclined to just randomize everything now, make the games, and have it over with.

Four responses out of *32* players is just not even close to encouraging.

So I will leave open the submissions for doubles pairs for one more week. If I have to randomize again for more than half of you, I will randomize everything (meaning some of you will probably have no chance to win this tournament) so that we don't have to keep going around like school teachers trying to get people to turn in their homework.

Rowena C & Marfski on USA Rail

Ok, well 16 of *32* is not as bad as all that. I'll be making round 3 games Saturday... consider who you could be facing on each map per above, and let me know by then if your team wants to specify who plays which map :D

So we had 1/2 the slots filled by choice, which was very helpful. Among the rest of the ka tet groups, you were assigned to one or the other map based on a good old fashioned coin toss. Here are the games. PM's have been sent to the first team in each game with the passwords, so please remember to send to the second team once both players join.

Good Luck!

We actually have five no-shows ATM, including one member of my own ka-tet : (

I am trying to track down replacements. If you know of anyone who'd like to join, they will get some bonus points in the tournament for joining mid-go.

Best regards,
GD

UPDATE: Anewsome has joined. I also noticed I screwed up on the invites to round 3 and forgot the round 2 reserve substitutions that were made. I am trying to rectify the problem. To see which of the round 3 slots have not been joined (or progress of games underway), you can click here:

All round 3 games have started.

Net-net, teams having some reserves called up are:

Ryall55, Ekimlil216, spidey & mitb. (mitb returns after missing round 2. fellonius drops out after playing round 2 for mitb. No points extra points to mitb for this.)

popeyelvc, Anewsome, spinal, and AeroMate. (AeroMate comes up from reserves to fill in for Frigidus, who drops out. AeroMate will get a starting score of 4 points to be in contention as of round 3).

deadbeating is not cool.... I'll let any team that has someone in their ka tat who missed more than once ask for a replacement, as there were a few extra reserves last time when I had to make a posting to fill the last few games... so we can probably find replacements.

Also, and update: all but two games from Round 3 are finished... so now its time to start thinking about Round 4. For the flashback, I am going to have a default rule: each ka tet either tells me who they want to play the flashback, or if not, then the players in each ka tet with the lowest number of tournament points on each team will get to play the flashback...
