You're welcome! I'll send out the games and update the results later when I get back from work.

But since you're here, could I just check, was the GA Medal approved in the end? The one you mentioned at the end of the first post.

Update

And so, the final games for the quarterfinals have all been sent out, and started. It's the final fight to prove your team's worth in the semifinals!

As the tiebreaker rules have not been established, the following tiebreaker system will be used for ALL stages of the tournament:
  1. Head-to-head comparison of Quads results (i.e. the 2 Quad games they played against each other).
  2. If the above is equal, then number of total Doubles wins in the round.
  3. If the above is equal, then average order of elimination from Doubles games (counted by last player of team to be eliminated).
  4. If the above is equal, then a Quads game between the two teams will be played.

In other news, the GA Medal for the top Doubles team has been approved! I'll be adding a list to track the wins in the second post shortly, so all teams can be aware of the competition!

Update

The results for the last games for the round have been streaming in steadily over the last few days. And while there still are 4 games being played out, we have enough results for 7 of the 8 qualifying teams for the Semifinals to be locked in, while APGI and DAMQ duke it out for the last spot. As such, we shall move on with the Semifinal games, with the first pair of Quad games being sent out.

In an effort to even out the playing fields in both Semifinal groups, the groupings were pieced together from the Champions of two Quarterfinal groups, and the Runners-up of the remaining two Quarterfinal groups.

Each round takes quite a while to complete, so I shall try to push out more games at once as we progress through the tournament. If the game load becomes to heavy for you, feel free to let me know!

Update

All quarterfinals games are now complete, and DAMQ snap up the final spot in the semifinals. All semifinal matchups have been sent out.

In the race for the General Achievement Medal, the pair consisting of torres44cm & ChadTomer currently lead the pack with a whopping 4 wins. However, as their team 44 has been eliminated from the tournament, the race is still wide open, with 5 pairs still in the semifinals tied at 3 doubles wins each. Will one of them pull further ahead to take the prize, or will a pair come from behind to take it?

Update

The first set of Quads games for the Semifinals have been completed, with SNEE and PIG taking the lead in their respective groups after winning both Quad games so far. Of course, this is just less than a sixth of the possible points to be won throughout, so that could change just as quickly.

Hello Tournament Director,

My partner, Swimmerdude's invitation seems to be empty in the 2 dubs games we are in. I have PM'd him to see what's going on. Will you please let me know what I can do at this point. Have you re-invite him if he accidentally missed the invites...or allow me to replace him if he cannot make it?

Thanks,

Paul

Update

All but 1 game of the Semifinals are now complete. But as the qualifying teams for the finals are now set in stone, the first set of games for the Finals has been sent out.

The Finals is set to be an interesting showdown indeed - all 4 of these teams were the 4 teams that qualified for the Semifinals from Groups 3 and 4 of the Quarterfinals. This means that each of these teams have played 2 of the other 3 opponents throughout the tournament so far - and all times, the Quads score has ended at a tied 5-5 apiece. It's likely to come down to the unpredictable Doubles games to determine the winner, and WAR might just have the upper hand there - both their Doubles pairings are currently tied at the top of the table for the Top Doubles Team.

The GA Medal, along with the Tournament Achievement Medal, are both still definitely up for grabs though, and it's anybody's game!

Update

And we're into the last round of the finals.

The race for the tournament win is still extremely close, as predicted, with the top 3 teams within 1 point of each other. The pressure is going to be greater than before, as the teams enter their last chance to clinch those precious points. DAMQ definitely has a lot of ground to cover up if they even want to get themselves within striking distance to the tournament title!

As for the race for the GA Medal, only 2 doubles pairings still remain in contention for it - Kingm & dkmaster currently lead with 8 wins, while PaulatPeace & swimmerdude99 sit just 1 win behind them at 7. With 2 Doubles games left to be played, none of the other remaining teams stand a chance to reach 8 wins. Things should definitely be interesting, as both these teams shall be playing against each other again in the upcoming Doubles games. Since a tie is a definitely possibility at the moment, the tiebreaker shall be decided based on which team has more wins in doubles games throughout the tournament where both their teams were playing. If that is a tie, the average placing of each team in these games shall be compared.

Update

The last games of the tournament are now over. But even in its final stages, the tournament had no lack of drama. DAMQ swept all 4 of the last Doubles games, earning them 12 points in one fell swoop. However, they were too far behind the other teams for it to put them back on top. The lack of points earned, however, did mean that the top 2 teams - 3P's and WAR remained tied at 29 points apiece. As such, the tiebreaker rules that were implemented at the end of the Quarterfinals (and approved by original TO, silversun6) now come into play.

anamainiacks wrote:As the tiebreaker rules have not been established, the following tiebreaker system will be used for ALL stages of the tournament:

  3. If the above is equal, then average order of elimination from Doubles games (counted by last player of team to be eliminated).
  4. If the above is equal, then a Quads game between the two teams will be played.

Points 1 and 2 are equal, so using point 3 we have:
AVERAGE DOUBLES PLACING (1=win; 4=first out)
3P's: 2.92
WAR: 2.50

And so, with the better average doubles placing of 2.50, WAR has won the tournament, consisting of the players Kingm, dkmaster, hmsps and stevenshome!

CONGRATULATIONS WAR! =D> =D> =D>

As for the hunt for the General Achievement Medal, the doubles team that won the most number of doubles games over the course over the tournament is Kingm & dkmaster, with 8 wins out of the 18 they played! Both of them will thus be walking away with an additional medal, on top of their Tournament Achievement Medal, for being the Top Doubles Team! Congratulations!
