I'm indifferent as long as it doesn't cost the treasury more money.

How romantic! It's just like your polls. Could it be you have finally found a soulmate? You could run through green meadows with sounds of music playing in the background, go for long walks holding hands and watch the sunset on a beach. I'm so happy for both of you, can I come to your civil union after which you will have slightly less legal benefits than a regularly married couple?

so how do you feel about people getting ape married? (Or monkey married, since this is a monkey business thread?)
Perhaps they can genetically engineer the monkeys to be more like humans.
It is natural, as animals in nature have been observed trying to have sex with other animals, eg rabbit trying to breed hens or sow or cow in heat trying to breed with a farmer.
It is progressive, as obviously not conservative or suffering from monkeyphobic problems.
May reduce the exploitation of minors as prostitutes and reduce costs of divorce.

WOW. This REALLY sounds like an argument against letting blacks and whites marry, not homosexuals.

"WOW. This REALLY sounds like an argument against letting blacks and whites marry, not homosexuals."
How? (My white brother married a black woman, my sister someone from Philippines, not sure how at all related to marrying an animal.)
20 years from now you may be a "conservative" if you don't accept people marrying monkeys as normal marriage.

"oh then we're on the same page, because i'm not sure how gay marriage is related to marrying an animal"
Both types of sex happen in nature, may be part of genetics as far as preference goes, and in both cases babies aren't made. (One view of marriage is related to procreation of next generation)
The same sort of logic can be used to label both as either "normal" or "abnormal".
With the increasing power of "gene splicing", monkey marriage may become much more common in 20 years.

IMO he is reffering to the homo-sexuals argument, that no group, no matter how small, can be denied their civil rights, to force a religious institution to perform a marriage ceremony. The Animal boinkers are next in line. Just saying, don't look behind you unless you are into goat play.
I prefer dog play over goat play, here's a picture of me playing with my dog while naked, unfortunately the moderators will remove it soon.Just because it feels good does not make it right

Is your brothers marriage ' normal ' , many would have considered it not so a few decades back.

Yo, if gene splicing also means we'll be able to harvest our own The Jessica's Biel and/or Alba, I really don't care if some sickos want monkey playmates as well.

Being against gay marriage means being against religious freedom. For shame.

To be honest, "Why Not?" wouldn't be my choice. It's "OF COURSE!"

Man, your brother is betraying his race by marrying a black woman. It might be "natural" (i.e. real people have sex with black women all the time) but that doesn't excuse it. He's marrying an animal, unlike those fine, strapping white lads who marry other fine, muscular white lads.

I feel like the "why not" is close enough to an "absolutely," since we really don't see a good reason to be against it.
Anyhow, a rather apropos thread, considering recent court meetings.

Well there's plenty of racists out there that view coloured people are somehow inhuman, animals. Monkey is often a used as a derogatory term for black people. So...
multilis wrote:so how do you feel about people getting ape married? (Or monkey married, since this is a monkey business thread?)
Sounds a lot like an argument against black and white people getting married. "Oi! What are yer doin' gettin' married to 'dat monkey?! No daughter o' mine gonna marry no negro!" Quite simply, bestiality has no place in a discussion about homosexuality (unless it's homosexual bestiality). Homosexuality is between two consenting adults, not an adult fucking an animal that cannot consent to sex. Offspring is completely irrelevant. By that argument, you should pass laws that those who get married MUST have children (and, by such extension, sterile people and old people cannot get married).

Gays have every right to marry in a private ceremony, unrecognized by the state.
