I have watched MSNBC All Day today. Even Chris Mathews twice (yeah I got off work early today). From what I can tell, the 112th Congress is already a failure before they even take their seats. I mean, every show, is just hit piece, after hit piece. I think they might have attacked every single republican in the house today. And some of the points they are hammering, this failure of a promise to cut 100 bill in the first year? #1 I have never hear that promise #2 The lame duck congress just passed last years budget a couple weeks ago which has effects for the next 6 months, giving only 6 months to control the budget. Even worse, these hosts start off with a premise that I vehemently disagree, and then they just draw it out that way, and pile worst case scenario onto worser case, and then tell you who to blame with some of the biggest jumps in logic I have witnessed to date, as well as call them hateful names and use foul language. I even saw Ed Schultz apologizing for something, I did not catch what just happened (I was writing a love letter to Baron or something) but I could tell I missed a doozy. Heck I'll find it oh wait nope nobody even bothers to put Schultz on youtube. Most recent 2 weeks ago? wow
Oh well anyways he apologized for getting WAY TOO ANGRY and calling the republicans a bad name. Okay now I understand the hard left is all in a tizzy today, but I just wanted to say, in public, I will watcheth MSNBC no more. They are living in a bubble over there, and it's a very dangerous one. Stoking hate and pumping fear. I even heard Al Sharpton say minorities had better be worried because the Tea Party is gonna "turn back the clock" 40 years on civil rights. wut? Sounds like a call to arms to me, accept, I have no fucking idea where the hell he gets the clock being turned any which way....It was a very different al sharpton, a very animated, stoking, keeping the flame hot....

Wow! I'm like really surprised you feel this way. No really, I totally would have thought MSNBC would be your bag.

I read msnbc but don't watch it. I usually only read the science/tech stuff and world/national/health news, and try to stay away from the political commentary.

So is MSNBC basically just a socialist Soros dominated propaganda outlet?

The problem I see is that the right does basically the same thing, and all I see is a huge shitfest because these grown men can't get along with each other. I am beginning to hate politics more and more because the right and left can't get along in an adult manner. They both spew their hate towards the other and come up with the worst possible scenarios for each other and just cannot reconcile their differences over issues very well.

The only host I consistently watch on MSNBC is Dylan Ratigan.
I dislike Chris Mathews, Keith Olbermann too consistently crosses the line from elitist to pompous demagogue. Rachel Maddow bores me, but I don't dislike her. Joe scarborough wouldn't annoy me like he does if Mika brezinski wasn't the "co-host".

I tend to spend more time watching conservative hosts, than liberal.

no no no way. I can't give you that. I will just go with your assumption of right media, which is Fox news. Sometimes, some of the hosts do the same things. You just hear about them....24-7. I'm watching Fox now...they are staying on issues.....next segment, more issues....no name calling, no saying democrats want you to die...LOL

I will just disagree with you thinking the same happens on the other side. You might even be able to cite a few examples, all I'm saying is the other side is doing it way worse, constantly. They don't even talk about the issues. They just say if you don't agree with the issue, you hate children.

I only point it out because of the potential danger.

Someone has to say something when Hitler comes around.

Ok, I'll give you the fact that I'm woefully unprepared to get into a full fledged debate about which side does it worse. All I can say is that I've heard worse things about Glen Beck's camp than anything on the left, but that could very well be the result of what I watch and who I talk to. I hate to take sides on things where I don't have all the facts, so I'll leave it at that.

I really liked Olbermann. He was like the left-leaning, more intelligent version of Glenn Beck. Except instead of crying on cue, Olbermann would get angry on cue.

Yeah, I know. me neither. Although it may have looked that way, the main thing I want to talk about is the potential for violence and disorder.

If I ever catch myself watching MSNBC, I will cut my balls off right then and there. The only politics related show I watch is Colbert Report, but that's all satirical anyway.

No. But they may as well stop the charade of reading the fucking Constitution out loud, if they're not even going to bother following it.

Yeah dude, but you see, it was just 1 guy, maybe 2. I was not "the republicans in the house" I also wonder if maybe there was one democrat, or if this has happened before, or happens once a year? I mean what if their cab was in traffic? I don't know I guess they should have known maybe they shouldn't vote? They say they were elsewhere in the capitol. I guess it's only a big talking point now because, and I love this paragraph from Politico...

some outlets reported that he and Sessions were at a fundraiser. It is against federal criminal law for members of Congress to accept contributions in the Capitol or its surrounding office buildings, and there was no indication that he raised money at the reception.

But really, it WASN'T...it was also the Republican leadership. If they're all fired up about following the Constitution, how can they not make sure that their folks are educated regarding the Constitution? It's not like they haven't had time since the election to make sure these two knew what the hell they were doing.

Phatscotty wrote:I also wonder if maybe there was one democrat, or if this has happened before, or happens once a year?

It may very well have, but I wouldn't find it nearly as relevant unless they were also running on this big Constitution issue. That's what galls me about it. It highlights to me that they're really not all that serious about it, and it's just a showpiece.

I don't know. It looks bad, but I'm not about to start demanding perfection. I mean, the argument "well, they didn't do it in chronological order, so the whole idea of following the constitution is bullshit" doesn't flow for me

I think it amuses you because you are looking to be amused. It's ok, I catch the right doing it too. As always, you have to look through everyones bullshit, not just a certain peoples bullshit

seriously though, let's go through what it would entail for boehner (I assume) to make sure everyone is checked in like on the bus for a field trip? or maybe just hold up the entire ceremony for the 100's of people who were there on time? What should have happened?

Are you suggesting I'm looking at this issue through some sort of a bias against the Republicans? You're so laughable. Unlike them, I actually do care about the Constitution.

I'm not as upset with the two freshmen as I am with the Republican Congressional leadership on this issue, actually. THEY'RE just as much at fault as the two freshmen, and much more experienced.
