Tell that to the men and women who work 40+ hours a week to put food on their tables while many able bodied people sit at home watching the boob-tube for 40+ hours a week.

Tell that to the tobacco and soda companies who see their markets shrinking due to government regulations and not the choice if their customers.

You seem to forget, the country just voted for the right in the most hardcore fashion since FDR. The Tea Party is voting exactly the way they said they would vote, and doing exactly what they promised they would do (refreshing). Bachmann, is the head of the Tea Party Caucus in the US House of Representatives, who herself just won re-election handily, will get more Tea Party members in 2012. Bachmann will mop the floor with Obama. He doesnt stand a chance. I will run her everyday of the week and twice on Sunday. Anyone can beat Obama.

OK. Mitt Romney has proven himself able to sit in a room with Democrats and accomplish things besides trying to light the building on fire - in fact, one particular "compromise" managed to accomplish an important policy objective for both, if said compromise makes him totally unpalatable to the base (and the LDS thing, but yeah). John Huntsman did an important job for an American president who happened to have a different letter after his name, and seemed to do a good job at it. I don't really know how well he did in Utah, because I'm not from there, but it still exists on the map. I like it when politicians at least pretend to elevate policy above scoring political wins. That's the impression I get from those guys. The impression I get from the birthers is that they're willing to say crazy shit to score political points.

I'm not saying they'd make good presidents, and there's no way in hell they get my vote (it probably goes to Nader again) I just said I can't call them crazy because the things they say aren't indicative of some deep-seated disorder (beyond your everyday politican's plethora of untreated issues). Of course nobody knows what Mitt Romney is going to show up, ever, but nominating somebody I could imagine actually leading the country would be a wise thing for Republicans to do, if not for my vote, if for the fact that bomb-throwing presidential candidates really don't accomplish anything.

In the united states today, we have "property tax", where you essentially pay the government for the right to continue to use your own land. In New York it is between 10.312 and 17.364 percent. So, essentially, you have to pay the government 1/10 to (almost) 1/6 of your property value. You are paying the "community" for the use of your own property every six to ten years years, but we pretend that it's "private property". Sounds like rent to me.
