1. Gang, need the gang's help on this one, gang. I'm OOT ATM and can't do the linking to the pics b/c I'm on my iDroid. Someone bing-dot-com and post reference pics of the Palace of Westminster and the Quebec Legislative Building.

2. Also, remember to vote for Best Official Residence in the similar poll!

I was 3 or 4 years old in Halifax, at that time. I'd bet good money that my father was at that show though.

Your anti-Canadianism is showing Dr Saxi. You have pitted 2 Canadian provinces against each other. I knew you were a Canadian hater.

As a quebecer I'm tempted to vote Quebec. As someone recognizing the true glory that is Belarus(the greatest of the Soviet Peoples Republics, all hail Belarus). I'm torn on who to vote. Definetly not those jerks in Ontario though.

Stumbled upon this thread. Could we try it again with Fictitious capitols. (not to be confused with Fictitious capital)

For example:
Terminus vs Trantor vs Kalgan (Foundation)
Romulus vs Vulcan vs Qonos (Star Trek)
Edoras vs Barad-dûr vs Minas Tirith vs Eisengard (LoTR)

If people want I'll have a go at making a thread.

Yeah, the UK should have won the last one anyway. At night from a distance it's almost breathtaking.

All the beautiful capitals -- Bern, Budapest, London -- lost first round to far inferior challengers. Just another example of popularity contests having no relation to any objective criteria.

The walls of those old European capitols are soaked in the blood of yours and my ancestors.

Didn't you see the stains?

Yeah but this statement just enforces the popularity contest argument.

Or, in other words: "my subjective preferences are objectively better than your subjective preferences."

Honestly though, the capitals are inanimate objects, what can we hold against them personally?
That being said, there has to be some acknowledgement to the science of aesthetics.
