Apples, no question! Oranges are vastly over-rated imo, tricky to peel (often at least) squirt juice everywhere, kids leave sticky patches all over after eating one. The humble and simple apple is the clear winner ;)

The answer is obvious and is definitely not a matter of opinion but rather a matter of fact.

Fact 1: Apples are easier to consume. There's nothing to peel.

Fact 2: Ever enjoyed eating the skin of an orange? Didn't think so.

Fact 3: Apples have a fresh, crisp texture; whereas, oranges are slightly sweeter, yet they leak over your hand, and sticky fingers are frowned upon by society.

Fact 4: Apples come in many types. Orange only come in orange.

Conclusion: Apples win.

Oranges win.

(1) Oranges are much more pleasing to the eye. No one likes the color red. It's aggressive.
(2) Oranges, because they need to be peeled, result in increased calorie expenditure. Thus, they are healthier.
(3) The texture of oranges make them easier to eat. A person with soft or no teeth can eat an orange; not so much with apples.
(4) Orange juice is significantly better than apple juice. Orange juice is sweet and refreshing. Apple juice is sour and gross. Orange juice is used in various mixed drinks. Apple juice is not. And Appletinis? C'mon now.

Well, at least you wrote one correct sentence. Too bad you couldn't keep up the trend.

BigBallinStalin wrote:Fact 1: Apples are easier to consume. There's nothing to peel.

I suppose since you're a member of the upper crust and can afford quality dental care that might be true for you. But for those of us (most of the world's population, and a good 25% of the population even here in the West) who can't afford dental care and struggle with rotten teeth, nothing could be further from the truth. An apple is damned difficult for me to consume. About once a year I'll struggle through eating a raw apple. The rest of the time I'll eat it only if it has been softened by roasting, baking, or pureeing.

BigBallinStalin wrote:Fact 2: Ever enjoyed eating the skin of an orange? Didn't think so.
Actually, I do enjoy eating orange peels. Not in large quantities, because the flavour is overpowering, but in moderation. Every time I eat a slice of orange I take a small bite of the peel and I find the bitter but fragrant flavour really complements the sweeter, blander flavour of the flesh very nicely. Try it sometimes.

But even aside from my (admittedly eccentric) tastes, orange peels are a major component of many candies and desserts.

BigBallinStalin wrote:Fact 3: Apples have a fresh, crisp texture; whereas, oranges are slightly sweeter, yet they leak over your hand, and sticky fingers are frowned upon by society.
Apples have a hard texture that is painful to bite through and makes an annoying noise like nails on chalkboard. Masochists have been heard to refer to it as "crisp" or other terms. Oranges may or may not leak on your hand, depending on the exact variety of orange (some of which are quite dry and fleshy) but the juice is easily contained by sucking one's fingers. Movie directors are very fond of finger sucking which helps them preserve a PG rating.

BigBallinStalin wrote:Fact 4: Apples come in many types. Orange only come in orange.
Oranges come in many varieties as well. For some reason these varieties don't get as much marketing as all the cutesy names of different kinds of apple, but they are no less diverse.

BigBallinStalin wrote:Conclusion: Apples win.

GIGO. Wrong premises lead to wrong conclusion.

After reading your reply, it is apparent that your consuming orange peels has addled your brain, thus rendering your argument invalid.

Therefore, APPLES WIN!!!

Apples of course. Apples have only been associated with twee legends, william tell, johnny appleseed, apple/american pie etc. Apples do not have a nasty sectarian religious history.
Oranges are evil. Carrots used to be a plethora of different colours, but the the nasty parochial patriotic dutch grew only orange carrots in homage of the duke of orange, a nasty protestant meddlesome inbreed mouth breathing knuckle dragger. This horrible ginger haired, flame pubed, putrid protestant meddled in the politics of the United Kingdom, well England in particular. So the colour orange, and by default the fruit of the same name stand for repression of the holy roman catholic church. Regardless of your opinion on religion(I think its for those not capable of independent thought) any fair minded person would view the orange as evil.

Apples or Oranges? Who cares... I nominate lemons

This sour fruit is delicious and the citric acid removes placque from the teeth. I know everyone thinks I'm crazy for liking them but the sour taste is just so delicious! PLus lemons are NOT spheroid, and they are yellow and not red and not green and not orange. Lemons all the way!!!

spherid = ball shaped, e.g. the 3D rendering of a circle. Apples and oranges fit this definition more closely, and lemons do not as much because they are more elliptoid than spheroid.

it just depends on your definition of spheroid. Apparently wikipedia happens to agree with your definition.

Apple (v.) - the action associated with the inhalation and exhalation of air
Orange (n.) - a system of government in which one member of royalty maintains absolute power

Apply is better. Just using my definitions

Apple wins, no contest. BBS, mah boi, already gave the reasons.

Also, Granny Smith apples are by far the best. Sour as tits and healthy as cunt.

Dukasaur, oranges only come in one color: orange. Derp!

The only thing that sucks about apples is that they're so awesome, they force you to question your own mortality.

Apples are a far more useful weapon as they can easily be made to carry ecoli bacteria, which will easily trump the Oranges citric acid.
