Ladies and gentlemen, it has come to my attention courtesy of the moderators, that a clan calling themselves the Magnificent Bastards have been causing a bit of bother about all of this.

Now I've always thought that I was a magnificent bastard. Even from a young age, I've always known I was a bastard. But society places a lot of pressure on us to identify in other ways. Sometimes people close to me can tell, and I've certainly had a few relationships end when a girlfriend realised I was a bastard, or even just bastard-curious.

I have never pretended to represent all bastards, magnificent or otherwise, and I accept that not all magnificent bastards see themselves as identifying with me.

Since coming out as a magnificent bastard I have faced threats, insults, and graffiti on my wall. Thankfully other posters have rallied around my decision, and even displayed their support.

This has come at some personal cost to them as they too, now face the same kind of threat placed upon me.

We are, at heart, a grass roots movement, and generally resist identifying with any one person or organisation.
