There is alot of controversy going around, personally I can wait to see this movie and I really enjoyed the book. What do you think?

I really don't care.

Why be for or against it. I don't see why people are making such a big fuss over it. People bitch like, he's presenting fiction as fact, its wrong. Thats dumb as hell. Every movie is presented as fact to some degree. The greater the apparent validity, the better the movie. Since when were we expecting directors or writers to have this drive for accuracy. They are here to entertain, not educate. Anyone foolish enough to look at this and suddenly be turned away from religion probably wasn't a true christian to begin with. Its a movie, if its good, then i'll enjoy it. If its poorly done, i probably won't like it. I'm not easily impressed, so i guess we'll just have to wait. To the writers credit, i guess he wrote a good novel if people are flipping out about it so much. Just think about those horror movies that are like, "based on a true story" If you look up those "true stories" they're hardly related save one minor detail, but it makes it a little scarier when they try to make it sorta real. Like in Texas chainsaw massacre, the "real footage" they used. It made it scarier...

it will at least be halfway decent.. tom hanks is in it....lol

... Enjoyed the book and I'll probably watch the movie after it comes out on DVD, but movies only very rarely do the films they are based on justice.

... All the detailed references to symbols and historical events written about in the book cannot possibly be covered in a 2 hour film, and those were the best parts, IMHO.

... It'll be, "Jesus was married and had kids with Mary Magdelen (sp?)", toss in some cryptic symbols, dark and ominous music, Tom Hanks, and there's your film.

i agree with everyone, it was a great book full of interesting facts. Christians are getting mad cause maybe this book has some truth and might open their eyes a little. Instead of learning some culture they burn Dan Brown's Da Vinci books. Last time I checked when mel gibson came out with passions I didnt see any Jews burning Bibles.

It's a good fiction book. (nuff said)

look im a christian but some of the "facts" in this book are to close to the mark to be just simply tossed out as we christians and cathlics like to do.. i think it should be looked into deeper than we are letting it be....

Firstly - it's definitely a page-turner. I really couldn't put this book down, and had a compulsion to finish it.

That said. I hated it.

Firstly - The manner in which it presents the information. I'm intrigued by the whole conspiracy theory - I'd like to read into it further. Where I have a problem with this book is in the manner which the main character relates a number of theories as fact - before we even get to the conspiracy of the book. I probably wouldn't have cared if it'd been put forth as the main characters' theories.

Secondly - it was way too clichéd for my liking. I was laughing all the way through at the comic book characters.

I'm a little dissapointed with the cast of the film. It should've been Lee Evans rather than Ian McKellan. He played that role already... in 'There's Something About Mary'. Hmmmm.....

Whos going to top the box office next weekend, Da Vinci or X-Men 3?

I think that both will make ludicrous amounts of money in both domestic and international markets, and will likely be at the top for some time. I think X-Men has the potential to make more money on a long-term basis (especially if you were to factor in merchandising... $$$!!!), but I believe Da Vinci will beat it opening weekend. In both markets.

I just see the Da Vinci Code as either other movie, nothing special.

But he is braked down in Cannes, for not being special, thriller like, amature acting and many other things

... DaVinci Code has taken a seious beating in Cannes. "Melodramatic", and "Too damned long" were two of the chief complaints.

... Be glad you live in a country where A: There is no police-run censorship board, and B: You're permitted to deteremine the obvious on your own - the ignorant are allowed to believe what they will. (it's fiction - no disclaimers needed).

... Shifting focus... Dan Brown's DaVinci Code was an entertaining read, as I've said before, but has anybody read his other stuff? Angels and Demons (the book before Davinci Code - same main character) is terrible. Poorly written, unengaging.... blaaah.

Ah, well. I'd rather have poorly-written, trashy fiction than that True Crime garbage that has inexplicably warranted a section the same size as the sci-fi mass-markets...

.... True Crime? I've not been in a Western book store for about 4 years.... but doesn't sound very appealing.

... Where is the next Phillip K. Dick? The next Ellis Peters? .... None in sight.

I made the mistake of reading "Angels & Demons" first (mostly because I was told I would understand "Code" better... it is easily a stand alone book). So, really... the only difference between the two are very minor. The plot is the same, he just changed up the details. I knew who was going to die and where Langdon was going to make his mistakes. I still had fun with the concept and I'll probably see the movie sometime (though I've heard that critics have hated it.).

That said, Dan Brown has placed a lot of emphasis on things that have been proven to be made up. The Priory of Sion didn't exist till the 1950s. The Dossier Secrets was an admited fraud by the guy who placed them in the France National Library (sorry... spacing on the name). That includes the family genealogies from the Maravingian (sp?) royal families.


I am a fairly conservative Christian. However, I have no problem picturing Jesus as human and divine. I wouldn't be suprised if He did have a wife and family. So, obviously, this idea is not going to affect my faith. The conspiracy theory is fun. But, that's about it.

What I really find fun is that some Muslims want to riot over the silly movie. Oh! And how Opus Dei has their panties in a wad over the whole thing. Yes, there are two characters who are affiliated with Opus Dei who do some not so nice things. However, they were manipulated by an outside force. I don't see that as a reflection of the association, but of those individuals who were sadly misguided.

Ummm...yeah... so that's all I've got to say about that. At least for now.

I am sure its a well made movie but I really don't care, unfortunatly there is no don't care choice. In general I more for than against.

I dont see a reason for any contraversy because it is a FICTION movie, that mens it isn't real. Anyway I heard it sucks.

I think the Da Vinci Code will outsell X-Men 3 simply because it's so controversial.

You don't see gobs and gobs of people protesting the changes in Rogue's origin story, do you?
