On modern diet

I didn't care too much for healthy food until recently, but on the web I got a solution to an autoimmune condition on diet. Since then I've been trying to improve my diet in some aspects to keep eating some things I'm not willing to give up, and in this search I've been learning a lot of stuff that, well.. makes the medical establishment look like the real quackery.

You've probably already heard about this, but you don't give it the importance that it has (judging from the number of tea party and occupy threads here). This is more important that current economics and global warming.

Seems that we've been eating poison. For a long time now. We have not evolved to eat grains, nuts, large quantities of sugar, yet that's all we eat. Even worse, we eat refined forms of these. Apparently most chronic and some deadly health conditions are symptoms of our diet. We have been made to believe eating a lot of carbohydrates is good for us, specially by the cereal industry. We have for breakfast a bowl of sugar and starch. We've also been made to believe that eating meat and fat is bad for us.

I would expect anything by the food industry, even by regulators like the FDA, but by doctors? They don't mention this to you when you go to them because you are sick, they tell you to take a number of pills with a number of side effects, but leave you taking the poison. Seriously, wtf, people trust their lives to them. What about the Hippocratic Oath?

So I just watched a video of this lady dr. who lift herself from a wheelchair by changing her diet. She's now giving advice for free on these. It's like everywhere you look you can find stories like these, just don't get too much attention.

You probably think this don't apply to all of us but I doubt it. Once, years ago, I asked a Dr. I trusted why did he think there was so much type of these conditions now and not so much records of them in the past, and he said that it was because we know so much about them today. Lie.

Do you guys believe this thing I'm saying or does it sound like quackery to you?

I agree. I have recently switched white sugar with Sugar In The Raw.

White "bleached" flour is next to go.

That's problematic because quality research requires funds, and funds are provided principally by pharmaceuticals, and pharmaceuticals won't funds that threaten their gold mine.

Uhm... maybe..

Check this:

http://www.krispin.com/lectin.html
http://www.botgard.ucla.edu/html/botany ... index.html

I know it isn't Pubmed or Nature but it was the first thing google gave me for 'lectin poision'.

These foods kill us little by little.

Next I'm going to try to find Kellogs story from some reputable site.

That's problematic because quality research requires funds, and funds are provided principally by pharmaceuticals, and pharmaceuticals won't funds that threaten their gold mine.

"Natural" foods and organic food industries have a vested interest in showing the consumer the immense benefits of natural/organic compared to "unnatural"/icky-yuck-it's bad for you food. The organic food industry is worth billions (exact figure unknown), but they got enough money to pool together and hire a few scientists to show the benefits. Where's the empirical data? There hasn't been anything concrete enough.

I've known huge, daily amounts of vitamin B have a beneficial effect on mitigating those degenerative brain diseases... but the rest is kind of iffy, and even if you choose not to become a health freak, then you're very likely to only lose a marginal amount of health/life expectancy. There's no data in their favor that says that my life expectancy will boost 10+ years because I ate a ton of fruits and vegetables from Whole Foods.

While you are correct at all this, perfectly logical and inquisitive, as science must be. But I must insist. See BBS, I'm trying to get you healthy. I don't want you harboring those anarchist thoughts any more.

I have no fucking prove! I could say the same to you about everyone else out there pointing out those things, "what a bunch of quacks", to the bonfire!!

But there's this place where at least 90 persons, anecdotically, (why does firefox underlines this word? and why does it underline firefox as well, stupids, don't add their own name to the thesaurus) have documented their success against a autoimmune disease by changing their diet, especifically avoiding (why is especiically underlined as well) certain food. I'm pretty soon documenting mine as well.

Could it be that I'm on extasis, fooled by a bunch of fools?

And the paleo diet just makes sense. Agriculture was one of the exploits of our ever increasing cognitive abilities. Human did not evolve to eat grains. Those things have tons of lectins, why serve as poison so they avoided by animals. The Inuits, eating tons of fat an proteins alone are another clue.

There's this quack that documented and has practiced medicine based on blood types. Types O are supposed to be the most primitive type of blood, and if you have this kind of blood you should, with more reason, follow a paleo diet. O types have a more hostile immune system so they are less likely to develop cancer.

Whether is this ever proved or not I don't know really but makes a lot of sense. I wish I had a Nature or PubMed membership so I can access to raw data.

I admit I have no proof again. Go on, mock me, but it fixed me.

You could be on to something, but until I see some strong evidence, I'll continue wearing my monocle, drink whiskey, and belly-laugh at whatever you've been reading.

How many lectins does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop to kill a 170-pound, normal human? Can the body develop a tolerance to this poison? Is this poison less potent in various forms across various types of food? (Chloride is poisonous. There's chloride in salt; therefore, don't eat salt, amirite?)

The Inuits' diet is useful if you're constantly "exercising" all the time... Sample size: one society--assuming it was measured properly. :( What about the grain-eating peoples? Has the alleged lectin poisoning been greater or less for what groups of people? What are the actual effects of lectin within grain-based foods?

If lectin in food is as terrible as they say it is, then why aren't we all dead? Why have life expectancies and health increased over the decades?

ever noticed how a vast mayority of those pills includes aspartame? a totaly unnecessary addictive that is widely believed to be poisonous (that is also found in a lot of 'light' products to replace sugar), just to make the pills taste better. (aspartame is the main reason why all pills have a huge list of sideeffects, but the doctors don't care, they'll just give you a new set of pills to fight the sideeffects, leaving you with an even worse aspartame poison, also, most conventional doctors have always sad 'alternative methods' like homeopathic medicines are bad, while in fact homeapathic medines are all natural and therefore have much less sideeffects then that industrial garbage the doctors give you)

Well, apart from drowning, the side-effects of water tend to be relatively minor.

Now, do you want to make a statement about unnecessary additives that is more likely to be taken seriously? I actually think you have a point there, but unfortunately you ruin it when you bring up dissolving relatively tiny quantities of good stuff in relatively huge quantities of water as a viable alternative.
