Fearing he would be assassinated in the opening stages of a military coup to overthrow the Obama regime by U.S. troops irritated with unending deployments to Afghanistan by the peace president, U.S. defense minister Leon Panetta ordered his secret police guards to disarm and search troops being herded into a reception hall to hear a thundering address he had planned to force them to hear.

Hundreds of U.S. Marines were ordered by an American sergeant on Wednesday to disarm before entering a tent where Defense Secretary Leon Panetta was set to speak during his trip to Afghanistan.

No reason was given and U.S. officials tried to downplay the ... highly unusual security measure.

Sgt. Maj. Brandon Hall told more than 200 Marines at Camp Leatherneck that they were to leave their weapons outside. Afghan troops had already been told that they, too, were not allowed to bring their guns.

"Something has come to light," Hall told the troops. When an Associated Press reporter asked about the order, Hall said all he knew was, "I was told to get the weapons out."

American officials later said the disarming order at the Panetta event came from top commander, Maj. Gen. Mark Gurganus.

aren't most appearances by the president conducted in a similar fashion? when he came to madison, everyone was searched before they could even get anywhere within eyesight of him.

Just to be clear this was Panetta, not Obama, and - according to MSNBC - the decision to disarm everyone was made at the last minute, seemingly indicating disarming troops in a combat theater when a cabinet member appears is not SOP. Quoting the SSG the NY Daily News quoted above he said "all I can say is that someone got itchy ..." (probably due to a tip from counter-intelligence that a junta was plotting a takeover to kick-off during the speech).

I laughed a little at this until I read that the U.S. soldiers went into the area to hear the speech, then were asked to leave and disarm. That seems weird.
