Bounty

I am offering a free premium to whomever takes out Roger Goodell for crucifying the Saints, and making them and the proud city of New Orleans seems like the low down, dirtiest thing that ever happen to the NFL.
Did we rape women like Big Ben? Did we spy like the Pats? Did we bet on the games while playing NFL? NO! So why is it that Goodell has a vendetta with New Orleans? Is it cause we told the NFL that they don't have they copy rights to Who Dat and the fleur de li? So first one to take out Roger gets the premium. :D

Sorry Nola... seems like even the NFL Players Association
agrees with the penalties accessed the Saints. Some of
the late hits and borderline cheap shots no longer look so
innocent now that the bounty culture has been exposed.

It's already a hard hitting violent game, but targeting
players with the intent of injury to get them out of the
game crosses the line.

The fines are peanuts in a billion dollar industry
and of course the big hits on key players won't
end because of this "bounty scandal".

There will always be an unspoken "kill the quarterback"
mentality on the playing field that will never go away.
You just can't promote it in the locker room.

Back in the 90's there was a "Bounty Bowl" when the Cowboys
played the Eagles in Philadelphia. It was rumored that the
Defensive Coordinator Buddy Ryan targeted Dallas players
with no publicized investigation or fines accessed.

We didn't really hurt anyone but two old men. Brett and Warner, and they weren't even that hurt. I just don't understand how we get this punishment but we didn't spy or be involved in a murder.

You are involved in a murder now. I will "get" Goodell for you. Free premium for life is the price, right? I plan on playing CC in prison.

Favre said he didn't care.

Warner didn't say he did care, but, well, he works for the NFL Network.

I haven't heard any arguments which explain the effectiveness/strength of the incentives created by these small betting pots. An extra $10,000 out of a salary of millions of dollars doesn't seem that strong of an incentive. Maybe, it would be stronger for a player who earns $200,000, but still... how strong? One could say, "Ah, but the cultural institution created by the gambling creates incentives which reward players for late hits."

But if that's the case, then gambling isn't even necessary for creating that kind of positive feedback mechanism. It can occur without it...

The severity of punishment doesn't make much sense.

Has anybody ever played the game "Blitz: The League?"

That's how the NFL should be. It might be more exciting then...

I always thought it should be more like Electric Football:

Check out that score, it's 90 - 1 in the first quarter.

The NFL HAD to come down hard on this.

If they were sued and found to know about ongoing "bounty" programs going on without stopping them, the lawyers would
own the league. Thin if they did end somebody's career via a bounty hit, who would get sued??

Ultimately, it's for the players own good to put a stop to this.
