.. a new server for the zone I'm in?

This is ridiculous, I've been calling tech support for more than 6 months now, they are not supposed to close a report without contacting me first to make sure the service is working 100%, but they keep closing every report I make.

Of course, there's no competing ISPs here, otherwise I'd change company.

I expected the great minds of CC OT to solve this. Moving is not an option. I would whore myself to Slim for good internet but I don't know how to reach him, I would probably be killed before I could get close to him and make him the indecent proposal.

What laws prevent competitors from setting up shop in your area?

What laws prevent competitors from setting up shop in your area?

No one. The reason is probably that they are not interested yet. And the reason Slim's company is here is because he bought Telmex from former president Carlos Salinas, his buddy, for a dime or maybe a quarter. So he didn't have to spend in infrastructure.

One thing is for sure though, the moment another ISP decides to come here, Slim will send a line of optic fiber killing the competitor's chances.

Yeah, Telmex was a gift from Salinas to Slim. Slim must be done passing money to Salinas by now. This is why Mexico is the shit that it is, this things happen in front of everyone and justice never comes. Why? thats for another topic. At least we have beens, tortillas and cocacolas.
