I'm not the biggest gamer, but some thoughts on E3

You have to watch the trailer for Watch Dogs, all 9 minutes of it. That is the future of gaming, most likely next-gen. Looks sick, legitimately puts a new spin on the FPS.

Star Wars 1313 - Also most likely next-gen. They showed all of 30 seconds of it, but it looks really crisp, and a lot of attention to detail. And the Star Wars games of late (mostly thinking of The Old Republic, which I didn't play but have seen friends play, and it looks awesome) make me think this will continue with that tradition of excellence.

The Last of Us - Yeah, I'm a Sony fanboy, so I'm not gonna go into Gears or Halo, or the fact that Microsoft butchered their presentation by having Usher perform. But watch the latest gameplay from this one, and also be amazed. This game is going to be SICK!

South Park: The Stick of Truth - It's going to be amazing. Cannot wait until 2013 gets here. I was hoping it'd be released in time for the holidays this year (as originally projected) but unfortunately we'll have to wait longer. I think this is the only SP game that was written (?) or at least had Trey Parker and Matt Stone in on the production/plot of it, so it will definitely be better than all those throwaway SP games from the older generation systems.

I never played God of War, but I assume it will be good. Call of Duty will be more of the same. Assassin's Creed has me excited, and I may finally buy on of those games because of it. PS All-Stars will be eh. And there's one more game that had me excited, but I can't quite remember it right now.

The other game I was thinking about:

The Last Guardian - By the group that did ICO and Shadow of the Colossus. Both of which are games I've never played, and didn't really know much about. But the stills I've seen and the hype around the company making the games and the track record of the 2 previously mentioned games has me excited for this.

Aside from Skyrim, I think I am going to end up making most new game purchases through backing projects on Kickstarter, since you get a decent deal for a DRM digital download, plus maybe a few other perks, and I don't mind the wait much either.

But I'm sure I'll give some of the newer games from E3 a look.

The Harry Potter game looked boring as hell; the lackluster presentation didn't help.

I wouldn't expect anything Harry Potter to be anything less than boring.

So far I've watched demos for Need for Speed, God of War, Medal of Honor and this other one where a guy has like a futuristic bow and arrow or something and they all look just awful.

All I care about is the new Counter Strike, which I guess comes out in August (and costs 15 bucks, which is awesome) and GTA V, which I read might come out with a new trailer soon.

I haven't played the lego HP games, but I think they usually put out good product (at least based on Star Wars and Batman).

And while the wizard book or whatever it is will be lackluster, the new book of spells will be sweet (as a HP nerd).
