The premium cable network has pulled the 10th episode of the drama from rotation on digital platforms -- including HBO Go and iTunes -- and halted all future shipments of its best-selling Season 1 DVD set, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
In addition, the dramatic end to the freshman season of the series adapted from George R.R. Martin's books will be edited for all future airings both domestically and internationally, according to a new statement from HBO, which further reprimanded showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.

"We were deeply dismayed to see this and find it unacceptable, disrespectful and in very bad taste," the network said Friday. "We made this clear to the executive producers of the series, who apologized immediately for this careless mistake. We condemn it in the strongest possible terms and have halted all future shipments of the DVDs, removed it from our digital platforms and will edit the scene for all future airings on any distribution domestic or international."

This is kind of neat.
I'm so very glad I have one of the seasons with this head still in it.

The Game of Thrones.

I'm totally on book three. Each season is one book.

is this really that big of a deal? lol

worst case scenario, someone on the game of thrones staff hates bush and threw that in there as a gag. it's barely even noticeable and i doubt it affected anyone in a truly negative way.

seems like we've got the "streisand effect" going on here... people are blowing this out of proportion.

It does bother me that HBO has George W heads lying around though.

No budget for the show, but lots of spare George W heads just lying around.

What level of proportion would be appropriate?

the same level of proportion as your reaction when you are reading the newspaper and you see an editorial that you disagree with.

It's not the worst thing Joffrey has ever done.

I'm lost.
Are you trolling Phatscotty, Symmetry? Seems like Phatscotty is genuinely concerned that W's head was on a pike in the show...

It is the opposite of civility. Remember the outrage over the "tone" on talk radio that drove Jared Loughner to massacre? Or was it Sarah Palin's using of crosshair targets over congressional districts that were to blame?

Dubya's head on a pike goes way past any of that. Just calling out the phony left mantra of "Civility!!!!" Just wondering, if someone goes on a shooting rampage in the near future, if this severed head of the past president on a pike could also be responsible....

The scene in the show involves a bunch of people's heads impaled on spikes by a character called Joffrey. It's not the worst thing he does in the show, but it's up there.

For what it's worth, I doubt that Scotty really thinks Dubya's head was impaled.
