No They Can't

John Stossel has a new book and a new special out. They're both called No They Can't and they explore "why government fails and individuals succeed" at making the world a better, richer, and more interesting place.

Government grows, despite its repeated failure. Politicians are wrong when they say, "Yes, we can," but the fact that government can't doesn't mean that we can't. Free people accomplish wonderful things. While government wastes billions on boondoggles like Solyndra, X PRIZE founder Peter Diamandis explains how private investors have created cars that get 100 mpg, space ships and much faster ways to clean up oil spills, all without charging taxpayers a penny.

Keith Ellison, Mark Cuban...

Is John Stossle ignoring countries that work fine like Sweden and such?

Then his argument is actually an argument for Socialism.

Yeah, it seems Stossel isn't against all government, he's only against American's Constitutional Republic.

TRAITOR.

Sweden is perfect, and anyone who disagrees isn't a true Socialist.

Sweden is great if you hate immigrants and are not in a favor of providing opportunities for non-citizens. All hail the All White Nation!, right, JB?

I find it odd that instead of addressing the point that John Stossel isn't saying what he thinks he's saying, and was debunked in 10 seconds by a random guy named Juan who didn't even watch his "news" report; you're mocking Sweden.

I was making a point that the Swedish government does all the things that Stossel hates and it's running just fine.

How so? So far, your argument has been "John Stossel would love Sweden!"

That doesn't say much.

I didn't watch the Stossel report and, honestly, it's doubtful I'm going to ... but to say that any country that is the bought and paid-for client state of another country (as Julian Assange has claimed Sweden is) is running just fine seems to be generous.

It's easy to suggest the reasons for Sweden's sycophancy exist in a vacuum and whatever issue Stossel is raising is unrelated to that, however, I think such a position would deny the interconnected nature of economy-politics-military-ideology.

It's a lot easier when their population is 1.7 million and they have the land mass equivalent to downtown Des Moines. Iowa

And when you're not running your country on a hijacked 300-year-old political system that was predicted to fail by many of the men who founded it.

Sweden is running their country on a 200-year-old political system Napoleon introduced as a joke.

Sweden's skeletor-like King is the descendant of a private in the French army Napoleon thought would be funny to make the king of Sweden, since Sweden was so inconsequential. Fast forward 200 years, and Swedes are still ritually groveling at the feet of the son of a French potato farmer.

The finest stock of Swedish men are annually forcibly conscripted into the King's Guards where they have to serve for years - not for any purpose of national defense - but for the King's amusement and entertainment. Despite the fact the King is a multi-millionaire, they are forced to do this without pay and under penalty of prison. The King's amusement is more important than their personal aspirations and they are required, under penalty of law, to put their life plans on hold to entertain the King and his millionaire friends.

Would you like to be forced, under penalty of law, to be one of King Carl's dancing boys / court jesters for the entertainment of he and his millionaire friends at fancy parties to which you'll never be invited except as the unpaid performer?

Have to love that pride in ignorance. Is there a quality in a person more aggravating? Lack of empathy I guess, but that equally applies to Scotty.

Glad to see you are still out there, on my ass everytime I make the slightest mistake.

Guess I'll see you again in about 6 months then eh?
