Spain vs Italy

I know there's an Euro 2012 thread already but I wanted to make a poll.

In online betting sites, Spain pays 2.20, Italy 3.40 and tie in the regular time pays 3.20.

I really want Italy to win, Spain's football bores me.

WHat do you think?

Is "not sure" draw? Because I think there's going to be a draw and that Italy will win in OT.

there's a difference in who will win and who do you want to win, i want italy to win but i think spain will win. spain will just agressively hunt down the italians when they have the ball and wont be able to feed pirlo as he will be man marked the whole game.

Freaking unstoppable.. I wonder how would they look after Xavi and Iniesta retire though!

iniesta is just 28 so he can still play in another world cup and at least one other euro.
xavi is 32 so maybe he'll be used at the next world cup but i kinda doubt it.

also spain is clearly not dependent on these 2. in the whole tournament they scored 0 goals and provided 3 assists. david silva alone provided 3 assists and scored 2 goals.
sure they have a big role in the team's mechanics but the team isn't in any way so dependent on these 2 players as you might think.

Oh yeah you are right.. The team is not so dependent on them. They are just 90% of the midfield control which is a major key in the modern football. They are not that big of a deal as one might think! :-$

I have to agree with Pirlo, even though it hurts that those two play for Barcelona.

They are just too good, Spain will not be the same without them. Remeber that Iniesta is likely the 2nd best player in the world.

ronaldo is the second best player , inesta is about 4th or 5th based on last season. spain will be hurting after they go but they can recover if they start preparing for their inevitable retirements. apart from germany i really dont see any team beating them.

First off: Portugal should have had this cup. They out played Spain the entire semifinal match and lost becasue of penalty kicks. That rule should be changed to like sudden death OT because its complete bullshit. Italy played like shit that last game. Should have been Portugal over Italy in the finals. Also, Ronaldo would have made a better actress than a soccer player.. yea, I said actress..

I'd give Ronaldo and Iniesta a tie, even though they are different kind o players. Iniesta is grossly underrated.

It can't be measured like this. You are underestimating the European football. EVERY game has its own circumstances and conditions. Just because Portugal "outplayed" Spain and Spain, in turn, "outplayed" Italy it doesn't necessary mean Portugal should outplay Italy.

Again, Spain spent their energy so wisely. Players are not machines. They are humans like us and they get tired and fatigued after an insane season and very tough competition in their own domestic leagues and UEFA Champions League. It's more like a budget and you need to know how to use it.

Also, Italy turned to a real shit after a player got injured and they had to continue with 10 men. Not saying they could have made an amazing comeback from a 0-2 deficit. Just pointing out few details you might have missed.

Don't know what game you watched, but for the last 20 minutes of regulation, and entire extra session Spain was clearly the better side. And I don't know how the second player in the world does not take a pk...

at any rate, the best "team" in the world showed itself.

xavi is good. iniesta not that good. not even close to xavi.
at this tournament iniesta was one of the poorest spanish players especially in the elimination stages.
i'm a firm believer that fabregas can and will be far better than iniesta. he's already at the same level (or even a bit in front) and he's only 25.
also another player from spain (barcelona) that has a huge potential is alcantara, albeit he's a CM not a LM like iniesta.
spain without them will be the same if not better. spanish football will not end with xavi and it most certainly not end with iniesta.

Nope, you are incorrect and my point is more valid because I started the thread.

Iniesta is amazing, as are many of the Spanish players. Midfielders don't tend to age well, so who knows how much longer he'll be able to play at the top levels. I wouldn't be surprised if we've seen his last major international tourney.

first off spain wont be better without xavi or inesta they both work so well together thats its easy to say x player is better when in reality they are just as good as each other both excel at their roles in both domestic and international football. while xavi tends to get the praise more remove iniesta from the team and he wont look so spectacular dont get me wrong he is still great but iniesta pushes him( and vice versa) to perfection.

fabregas has a lot of potential but i dont see him as a replacement for either xavi or iniesta, he isnt as good as either of them and is more of a attacking orenitated mid player than the holding controlling players that xavi and iniesta are.
