If anyone's in Maplewood NJ over the weekend, come and say "HI".
I'll be running a stall at Maplewoodstock, the local music festival to publicise my events business, which is now doing quizzzes and mock gameshows as well as the murder mystery thing.
Or don't come and see me but just enjoy the music. it's always good fun, and there's a load of art stalls, craft stalls etc - and none of the usual realtors and double glazing slaespeople.
This year for the first time there's a beer tent too - which will make this old Brit feel far more at thome - an outdoor summer event with no beer tent has always been just, well, odd, to me.

You should come here for events Jonesy. We set up beer gardens at nearly anything.

I've been to Canada a coupla times.
Loved Montreal, quite liked the Thousand Islands, bored by Toronto.
Nice to hear that you have a Brit attitude to beer tents though.
Mind you, Canadian beer (so far as I found) is crap.

Well, it was HOT yesterday. And, when it was 105 degrees, I was standing in the sunshine, storytelling in a chain mail helm.

I'd put our good beer about on par with good American beer, but our bad beer is much better than their bad beer.

note: by "bad beer", I mean the most popular, mass-produced stuff.

The US has a lot of small independant breweries, many very good. Budweiser on the other hand has the unique quality of going in as awful piss and coming out as slightly more appetising piss.
I din't find any good beers in Canada - they are probably there and I went to the wrong places. Molson makes Bud look good.

Agreed and Labbatt makes Bud for our market. The only Molson products I don't mind are coors light and Kokanee. Funny thing is Kokanee was awesome before Molson bought them out.

Ireland make the best beer in my opinion. All my favorite Canuck brews are from BC.

So if I'm in Canada again, what beers should I look for?

That depends a lot on where in Canada you are. The smaller, regional breweries tend to make the best stuff, in my opinion. For half-decent mass-produced swill, I would recommend Alexander Keiths, Moosehead, or maybe Kokanee. Avoid all Molson products.

I concur, but avoid Labatt products as well imho. There are some awesome micro breweries in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

Agreed. Labatt is also terrible.

So, Jonesy, you should come to the Maritimes and experience our famous hospitality, but bring your chainmail helm, the bars can get rowdy.
