Jesus' hatred for fig trees

Mark 11:12-14, 20 wrote:The next day as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry.
Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs.
Then he said to the tree, "May no one ever eat fruit from you again." And his disciples heard him say it.
...
In the morning, as they went along, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots.

Mathew 21:18 - 20 wrote:Early in the morning, as he was on his way back to the city, he was hungry.
Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then he said to it, "May you never bear fruit again!" Immediately the tree withered.

I find this portrayal of fig trees quite distasteful. Figs are lovely and should not be discriminated against thusly.

I consider Jesus to have been exceptionally liberal, actually.

I'd accept classically liberal, in my view

He was exceptionally classically liberal, sure...I'd agree with that.

Sure, except for the production of figs.

This is not an example of conservative behavior.

It's an example of anger in action... which affects all normal people.

That said... Jesus supposedly wasn't a normal person and was exceptionally forgiving and loving.

Yet he couldn't even forgive a fig tree... even when it's really the season's fault, not the fig tree's.

He could have easily ordered the seasons to change thus bringing about the bloom... no?

Shows me he was stoopid.

This part is not meant to be taken literally, but to be interpreted, clearly, for there is no explanation to be made from it being taken literally.

Yes, he could have ordered the seasons to change, but in this example, the world is one where free will exists, unlike any time where a good thing happens in the Bible. That's all God's work. Anyway, to my interpretation:

Figs are fruit, and the fig tree is bad, so fruits are bad. Fruit is a (albeit not often used) slang word for homosexual. This passage is clearly an exhibition of the Lawd Almighty's wrath toward the homosexual population and their sexual deviance.

What? XYZ Church doesn't agree with this interpretation? I guess I'll start a church of my own then.

Man, the fig tree is a metaphor for Israel and that God's judgment was coming upon her. If you read Hosea 9:10, when Israel is pleasing to God she is like a fig tree bearing fruit. Or looking at Nahum 3:12 when Nineveh fell that her loot and treasure was compared to that of the fruit of the fig tree.

The disciples would have had a good idea of what Jesus was talking about. If you look at when Jesus said this and what happened in between the time Jesus "cursed" the tree and the time it withered and died, you get further insight. Jesus sees the tree with no fruit and says "May no one ever eat fruit from you again", then he goes to the temple and drives out the money changers and tells the people there that they have turned the house of God into a den of robbers. The next morning, the fig tree itself had withered and died.

You're welcome.

So, not only does Jesus hate gays, but he also hates banks, and any lending or borrowing or charging of interest.

Clearly, Jesus does not the classical liberal description.
