Posted: Fri Jul 27, 2012 12:51 pmJeff Bezos, the founder and president of Amazon ... pledged to give $2.5 million to the Referendum 74 campaign in Washington state, doubling the money available to the campaign’s proponents, according to The New York Times.
While the state Legislature approved same-sex marriage in February, the referendum would legalize the Legislature’s action by affirming the law at the ballot box, something proponents of the cause nationwide have not yet succeeded at doing.
Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer of Microsoft each gave $100,000 to the Washington state campaign, The Times reports.
