Is diversity of thought being shut down? Does 2+2=5?

Why is "let's get real" suddenly a popular cry with right wingers and religious nutjobs?
I'm seeing it all over the place.
On it's own, it's meaningless, just "nur nur ni nur nur".
It adds nothing to the opinions of said persons.
It's not gonna convince anyone who wasn't convinced by the other things they said.
It's like a place-holder for "not convinced yet?Well you should be so there".
Stop it.
It's annoying.

So "Let's get real" will convince people they're wrong when leaving that phrase out wouldn't?
Let's get surreal.

Let's get unreal tournament.

Eh, it's just a catch phrase people use them for political arguments all the time.

I'm .

For the same reason the old "Moral Majority" took "majority" in their name.. even when we all knew they were very, very far from that.

And, this distortion of terms is pretty much a fundamental tactic of the right -- a very, very successful tactic at that.

you know that's a lie!

Way to make my point people. All I see here is a bunch of responses that 2+2=3, 2+2=5, 2+2=1. 2+2=7

Nobody wants to talk about what tolerance and diversity really are. I think we all know why you guys are scared of it....

Nobody's mentioned anything but the stupid phrase.
Why is it suddenly so popular?
Was it coined by some popular "hero"?

I've haven't heard it once lately, so I don't know what you are talking about. But by all means, continue avoiding the discussion and attacking the title of the discussion! I've never seen anything so absurd!!!!!!

The best thing about this thread is, anyone who watches the video can just scroll down to all you guys's responses to see the evidence of what the video says and therefore makes it a truth.

Oh God damn it, do I really have to watch 6 minutes of Glenn Beck's delusional ramblings?

Haha, in the first ten seconds I'm getting red flags. Beck thinks there are more people that hate Mormons than there are people that hate gays and minorities? Hilarious. Also, the first group he came up with for a hated religion is his own? Gosh, what a martyr Glenn Beck is. How about Islam? You know, that religion that can't build a place of worship without it being protested? You know what, let's just see where he's going with this.

Who, exactly, gets reprimanded for disagreeing with their professor? I assume that this is about something philosophical? What does this have to do with diversity?

Glenn Beck can fix "things" at "networks". I wonder who the "somebody" in his life is that tells him his crazy thoughts "aren't worth it".

Glenn Beck equates this theoretical reprimanded person with Galileo. Is this about fucking global warming?

Glenn Beck says at the start not to judge groups but individuals, and then proceeds to shit on "lefties". Classy.

Oh, it's about how people didn't want any of their money to be donated to bigoted organizations? So boycotting something is wrong then? What's your fucking point?

Glenn Beck absolutely loves to play the victim.

OK, I'm going to try to figure what the f*ck Glenn Beck's point was, because he sure beat around it. He's trying to say that people and their opinions should be tolerated, correct? Now, that is an OK sentiment, but there's a lot of subtext behind what he's saying. He's absolutely talking about the Chic-Fil-A thing, and he's talking about something involving professors. Is he saying that opinions are off limits in terms of how you feel about a person? Because he was just talking about how he doesn't associate with people that hate groups (immediately before going to bat for the Chic-Fil-A guy). f*ck it, he used too much rhetoric and his point slid around like it was covered in butter.

I'm not exactly a fan of Michael Savage, but his assessment of Glenn Beck is correct. Beck sure knows how to spend a lot of time saying very little.

Like Michael Savage, I supported Jerry Brown for Attorney-General of California in '06 so I have a soft spot in my heart for him.

Here's one of my favorite attacks by Savage on Glenn Beck, right before he left FOX -

"He's almost identical to Obama in his own way."

"Early on I knew he was a con-man, with the overbearingly Christian presence."

"Didn't the blackboards get to you? What was the point of them? Was it so he could remember what he was talking about?"

I used to like Michael Savage a lot. But did you know who had the #3 top radio spot in America before Glenn Beck? Savage. Glenn Becks rating were down so much, he replaced Michael Savage.

(I'm still watching the vid)

I think Neo-Cons generally supported the genocide against Serbia. Michael Savage has repeatedly called the genocide against the Serb people a "war crime." He called for George W. Bush's squeeze-toy, Tony Blair, to be shackled and paraded in front of a war crimes tribunal in The Hague, and 17 days later he was banned from entering the UK for life by the Minister of State Security. :P

Hmm. Well, I wonder about this though. I have been called a Neo-con many times here, mostly by the leftists but also Greekdog and some others on the right. Is your exampled context that same context in which they are speaking? Because I know I have never said or even seen a thing here mentioned genocide against Serbia. I don't think that's what they mean.

What I am getting at here is the "new" definition of Neo-Con, as it is used today. for me, today, I would say neo-con means bigger military, more intervention around the globe, a hard line stance with Israel (somewhat), big gov't, big spending, big debt, pro-military industrial complex, et al

You're on an ideological journey that will probably end with a shootout with the ATF. :P
