I was going to send PMs but that can be a bit awkward, plus there are probably plenty others i haven't mentioned or couldn't fit in the subject line - scotty i've certainly had the impulse even if i can't remember a specific recent example - so here's a public post (and there was me accusing others of narcissism).

Sorry for being such an unpleasant dick in our various exchanges. There is no need for it and it's a shitty way to behave. I don't talk to people like that in real life (unless i'm married to them) and dishing out abuse is not something i'm proud of. Got to treat everybody with respect, right? So I'm going to try and curb those impulses, and stick to whiny sarcasm and rock-solid arguing instead from now on. Apologies again.
