Quality Headphones

Hey guys,

Does anyone have any suggestions for over ear headphones that are good quality? I don't need anything that is like for a dj or smoething, but just something in like 50-150 (tops) for a nice pair of overhead headphones. I'm a little worried to buy them because (as my username might suggest) I spend tons of time on the pool deck at swim meets and thats what these are gonna be for.

Alot of the guys I compete against wear Beats. But are they worth the price? I also looked at Sol Republic when I saw Mr. Phelps wearing them (who I despise but thats another story ;)). But I looked them up and thought they looked cool. However I know nothing about headphones and sound systems, can I get some suggestions and told whether Sol Republic ones are good?
Specifically the Tracks and Tracks HD headphones.

Doesn't Bose make some pretty good sound-cancelling headphones? I'd be willing to bet that they're pretty good.

Unfortunately I know nothing about the ones you mentioned.

yes but I'm afriad to buy them because they tend to be a little more expensive and more for production than for listening from what I've seen.

lv, those look exactly like something I want, but I don't want the mouthpiece, I just want them for listening...

Get sennheiser headphones. They are fantastic.

http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD448- ... 999&sr=1-8
http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-280 ... 999&sr=1-4

Those both look to be in your price range. I know there are others also.

I just bought some Maxwell('s equations) headphones at Wal-Mart for 3 bucks. I don't know why anyone would spend over 10 dollars for headphones.

Price remains y=x while quality increases at like, sqrt(x/10)

I concur with this. I've had a couple of pairs and they've all been great, even the cheaper models.

I'd go with Sennheiser as well. I've only had good experiences with them.

Sennheiser make great stuff. Audio-Technica also makes a great range of products.

BLARGLBLARP

Just because there's lots of bullshit on the "audiophile" market doesn't mean that all quality sound systems are "overpriced". Like, I wouldn't pay 200€ for a pair of speaker cables but there's definitely a diffrence between crappy 2€ earplug-style headphones and professional quality ones. You get far less signal noise, better low- and high-end sound, etc.

The best headphones I've tried were on this recording studio where I was playing guitar background on this sort of weird band project some years ago. I'm not sure but if I recall correctly they were also Sennheisers.

Crappy headphones also tend to break, especially the earplug-style ones. Especially the plugs... I have tons of pairs of cheapo earplug headphones lying around which only work for one ear...

my ears themselves are fine but for some reason I keep getting a fucking gigantic backup of earwax for no apparent reason.

Like last year I got my ears flushed and there was a piece of earwax literally the size of my thumb that came out of my ear canal. Probably the most disgusting thing ever.

Not to mention how loud everything seemed to be after I got it removed.

I doubt the food industry processed AoG's earwax.

You really can't go wrong with Sennheiser.

Look at what they've got and find something within the price range you mentioned.

Exactly. The set of HD 525's that I've got have been around since 1998. That's over 14 years of listening enjoyment. The headband needs the soft cushion replaced, and I should get new ear muffs for them. But the speakers are fantastic. I also busted the wires but since they are replaceable I was able to get a new set of wires from Sennheiser.

Here is a $100 set from newegg. They have great reviews. You might also want to go into an audio store and try some one.
