Gen. David Petreus - while serving as one of the most targeted men in the world by foreign intelligence agencies, sent sexually explicit messages to his mistresses from a free GMail account created under his real name

Gen. John Allen - had cyber-sex with one of the CIA directors mistresses over a monitored Department of Defense computer network; says it's been misinterpreted - the week he spent as Supreme Commander of Europe has caused him to take on a more flirtatious style of writing, like Europeans

Mrs. Petreus - looks like the Treasurer of the Fargo Quilting Society but trusted her husband to hang out with this woman and this woman

Paula Broadwell - sent threatening e-mails to Petreus' other mistress from her own husband's email account

Unnamed FBI Agent - after being assigned to investigate one of Petreus' mistresses, started sending shirtless pics of himself to her

Barack Obama - wasn't viewed by the FBI as important enough to brief on the matter until 3 weeks after the House Republican leadership had been informed

Wait, sorry, what? The F.B.I. can access your account, without a warrant or even notifying you, on the sole basis of suspicion that you might be e-bullying an F.B.I. agent’s pal? Is this an official subsection of the Patriot Act? The friends-only harassment follow-up exemption?

Somehow, against all odds, today’s Shocking Petraeus Affair Revelations are even stranger than yesterday’s, which, we hasten to remind you, included an F.B.I. agent and the cyberstalking case he just couldn’t quit, Gmail accounts, and sexts that brought down the director of a government agency.

It’d be amazing if these shirtless pictures somehow went all the way to the top—like, if Obama’s re-election campaign were inexplicably responsible for trying to destroy evidence of sext-based malfeasance and topless selfies. Every generation gets the Watergate it deserves.

Come on, you can barely keep track of which dude you're crushing on from week to week. Sometimes it's Joseph Gordon Levitt, other weeks it's Leo diCaprio. Imagine if you had to run the CIA on top of that.

meh. Everyone has mistresses...even Bush and Obama. In fact, Bush liked to get head from a prostitute names Jeff Gannon, and Karl Rove would watch from the closet that was left open just a crack. Obama uses his secret service to pull it off.

I bet they have something else on him, and the affair is just the front story.

The director of the CIA is pretty much the one man in government you have to let go if you find him fooling around. If you can't 100% trust the reliability and secrecy of your DCI, you're in trouble.

Petraeus is a great man and will probably be remembered as such... but the right call was probably made here.

Ignore that having an affair with a married man who happens to be a four star general and head of the CIA is stupid, but this woman became jealous and protective of her man... not because he had a wife, but because he potentially had another mistress. Paul Broadwell gets my vote for dumbest.
