Thomas Paine: "America is a Piece of Shit"

The only proper use for paper in the room of money is to write promissory notes and obligations of payment in specie upon. A piece of paper, thus written and signed, is worth the sum it is given for, if the person who gives it is able to pay it, because in this case the law will oblige him. But if he is worth nothing, the paper note is worth nothing. The value, therefore, of such a note is not in the note itself, for that is but paper and promise, but in the man who is obliged to redeem it with gold or silver.

Right now there are $600 trillion in credits in the United States. More than the value of the entire world.

Down with Fiat Currency.

Death to Economists.

(Yes, I realize this is not just an American problem, but the title is catchy.)

Our economies are worth nothing.

The only truly valuable items are fossil fuels and machine guns. By taxing fossil fuels, all that Americans can hope for is machine guns. When they take that away from you, you will be a worthless nation. Lest we forget.

How does investment economics work in a world with only a "gold" standard?

Investment economics shouldn't work. Whoever invented leverage should be struck from the history books as a bamboozler.

Local production.

Here we produce nothing, 2% of labour is in agriculture, 8% are civil servants.

Today's paper says, immigration creates wealth. My anus. Rich immigrants drive up housing and basic good prices. The only way to create wealth is through production. This government must either be incompetent or complicit.

Either way, we are passing a bill unto ourselves. By letting the government issue so much money, we are subjected to inflation, servitude and a poorer future.

An island can't expect to rule a continent any more
than a continent can expect to rule the world.

How many ways can you polish up a turd?

Do immigrants enable greater productivity? If so, then wealth can be created through immigration.

The immigration policy allows for rich people to invest a million Canadian to get a visa. The lines of production are not changed at all, they only put a increased demand to the high-end housing market. Food still comes from an average of 4000 km away, all the brands are still sweeping the profits away, unemployment is still 20% among young workers. For developers and property owners it's fine but once the house price rises, it sucks for the locals. Halifax, the city in question has already seen property rates rise much more quickly than immigration and inflation. Making it an east coast Vancouver is not going to help locals at all.

Move to Moncton. I hear the housing is very economical there and they pulled off some sort of miracle back in the 80's.
