ADULT BEVERAGES & THE PEOPLE WHO LOVE THEM

Alright, Luns101 came up with the idea and I'm running with it.
What's your favorite alcoholic beverage? Beer, wine, bourbon, whisky, vodka, rum?

I happen to be a homebrewer so my favorite is beer. I really don't have a favorite style, I really do love all kinds.

Bourbon is really good. America's true contribution to distilled spirits (although the moonshiners might have something to say about that).

Rum is ok, have to be in the mood for it.

But Scotch.......oh the lovely Scotch Whisky. Single malt, 18+ years old. Heaven in a bottle.

But beer is by far my favorite. I love the history of beer, the art of brewing, and the science of it.

So.......... thoughts?

If you can find a vintage (pre-1919) bottle of French Pernod, you'd be stylin'.
Not cheap though, Iv'e seen them for $500+ per bottle.

If you're really interested in Absinthe, check out:

finally, a topic worth talking about in the social lounge. 8)
I prefer a mix of many of the licquors up there, but chose vodka as my fave, with rum & gin being close behind. Mai Tai's and Monsoons are my fave mixed drinks. 8)

i'm a beer guy, i've got the bodily proportions to prove it as well. My fave being scotch style ale from Boundary Bay (micro brewery in Bham WA) or Mcewins 80 (remembered fondly from my year abroad, when i went back to visit it wasn't quite what i remembered). Next on the list is Chimay - the blue label please (then white then red). When i moved down here to the desert its all Bud & Coors light country - piss water. I haven't had what i would consider a good beer, something i can tell people 'hey you should try this' in 8 months. No good scotch ales, and not a single store in town has Chimay - i've literally checked every grocery store and liquor store in a 10 mile radius. Although when i went to Mexico for my bday i did get some good Pacifico, not the watered down export version.

I voted wine - I'm no expert in it or anything, but it's super, especially reds.

But only at home, mind, and certain social functions. You'd never see me drinking fuckin' wine in the pub.

There was already a non-liquor version of this thead, so I limited my choices only to hard A, as they call it.

I love Gin. Bombay Sapphire. On the rocks. With tonic. A la Delilah. With red vermouth for a fake Pimms Cup.

Delicious.

Scotch Ale & Belgians. Now you are a man (I assume  ) that I could go drinking with.
Check out the link in my profile, has some good Belgian info in it.
Also, have you tried Orkney Brewery's "Skull Splitter"?
Has to be my favorite Scotch Ale.

No "All of the above" option? Shame… I've never really been much for the harder liquors though. I've always liked a nice red wine or a good beer.

That's a bold statement. Do you get a prize if you can name a beer they don't have?

I started drinking in grade 7… Well, no, that's not true. I was drinking earlier, but I didn't actually get drunk until grade 7.
