New Oz movie

I loved it loved it.
I've read some reviews by people who didn't.
I can only imagine that their only exposure to Oz was the Judy Garland musical.
This is nothing like that.
But if you have ever read and loved the books, this is for you.
L Frank Baum would honestly have loved it, I think.
Andf for what may be the first time, I say "well worth watching in 3d".
Really, this was absolutely bloody tremendous.

I have to agree! The 3D was pretty spectacular, and the rest was even better.

Good to know... I heard some of the reviews
and wondered if it was worth seeing.

Being #1 at the box office mean much
in this era of bogus hype.

I seldom if ever have thought 3d was worth the effort before. This is startlingly good in places, and doesn't get in the way otherwise.

I don't think that word means what you think it does.

"Neitzsche!"
"Bless You!"

That's gotta go in the comedy routine somewhere...

I'd say that you're gay, but I've been scolded for saying "gay".

This is a dictatorship!!

You can say I'm a penguin if you like. Doesn't affect me. Or the penguin.
I don't know if the penguin's gay though. Or whether he likes the Oz movie.

I have not been agreeing with Jones enough lately here's my chance.

Either we are gay and it's not an insult. Or we are not gay and it's not an insult because calling someone something they are not does not make it so.

Having blabbed that. I agree with gay people that get upset at assholes intending to insult people with the word.

It's power comes from other assholes that have hatred towards people just because they have different sexual preference. That is wrong. Yeah I know you're trying to make a joke. The joke sucks. It's not funny anymore.

Oh, and the penguin just PM'd e to say that he IS gay, what business is it of yours, would you like to take it outside? (and "taking it outside" in the antarctic is a serious business).

No gay penguins were harmed in the writing of this message.

He also said that if you aren't careful, his friends the invisible badgers from another thread will come and sit on your head.

While your taste in movies generally sucks*, I am viewing this endorsement as a reason to get over the fence and actually go see it. Anyone who thinks the books were less charming after Baum left but also thinks a non-Baum based movie is good clearly shows unbiased reportage.
I will probably go this weekend or next, and I will report back here. Feel free to subpoena me if I haven't reported by May.

I should note this is based on a pretty small size (i.e. The Guilt Trip and that other one with Billy Crystal; basket case; bank job was ok I guess).

I tried to go watch this last night and it was sold out. Stupid Spring Break getting in the way.

Sorry to ruin the fun, but I thought it was awful.
I liked the beginning and the great showdown, but everything else was pretty blehhhh.
Cringing at the cheesiness and stuff. Seemed like scenery was just thrown in there just because even if it didn't mesh nicely or have a sound flow.
Hated the main character. Such a bastard for 99% of the movie.
