How so? As a fan of the genre, the lack of "win" is interesting. The characters have already lost.

The way I've dealt with his snail's pace writing is to boycott him (the man tours the world like no one I've ever seen).
True, but annoyingly the writers I picked up to replace him are writing at a snail's pace too. Joe Abercombie is perhaps the only current fantasy writer I like. He builds disappointment into his stories.

I love Abercrombie. There are completed series as well - The Black Company... some books by Steven Erikson... as two examples.

Have you read Borges, or Calvino? If you have, some recommendations would be welcome.

I have not. Spanish and Italian writers, it looks like. I'll check them out.

tkr4lf wrote:Where are the first 4 episodes? Were they leaked or officially released or what? I know I've only seen the first one of the new season. I was happy with it. The first few episodes of each season are always the slowest and least exciting, what with all the explanation and introduction of new characters and whatnot they have to get through to set up the main events of the season.

and episode 4 was not that good I don't get why someone would say that episode 4 was the best ever... ayways...... given the leaking i don't even know what is fine to discuss about in here... don't want to spoil the ones who will watch it on tv...

patches70 wrote:And what's with Mance everyone? WFT is wrong with him? The deal Stannis gave him is way better than he and the wildlings were ever going to get on their own. Even if Stannis never had shown up and the Wildlings rolled over the Night's Watch and poured into the North, in no time at all the other kingdoms would send an army to ten up there and just wipe them out.
If the Mance would have just said "Sure!" to Stannis then the Wildlings would have a better chance at actually getting land South of the Wall and living out their lives. No matter what they are going to be fighting one way or another, at least with Stannis' offer they get a chance of actually having an end to the fighting. If they try and take the north the rest of Westeros would eventually wipe them out. The Wildlings would end up fighting until there was no one left because they'd all end up dead.
Mance is a dumbass, what do the rest of you think about him taking to the Pyre instead of actually earning a place South of the Wall?
