There are people that play American football outside of the US, but in a lot of countries (Australia/NZ, the islands, British Isles, Africa) those will be people who play American football because they are aren't good enough to make the rugby teams.

Poor guize :(

In europe anyway, all american football teams and leagues are negligeable. There is so little interest, so few teams that it's hardly worth mentioning. Football(soccer) in europe, and probably in latin america as well, is almost like a religion. Just as American Football is to Texas.

rockfist wrote:For the most part you are right but not in my case: I'm at 210 pounds with 10% body fat (which is on the lean side) ...the running when I try to play ruins me. I used to be a mid-distance runner so I am fast I just have no endurance. My legs are now built for moving heavy weights not running and I sure as hell can't change directions nearly as well as I used to be able to.

Well it does take some training of course. The highly muscular players usually don't have to be long-distance runners anyway. They're usually center-backs or strikers.

I don't know if it's that I'm paying more attention or if it's because there's more media coverage but I think football is reaching it's highest point in history.

The past world cup was very good. It hurts me to admit but Messi is reaching and almost superhero status.

Even americans are getting good at it. But they will always lose to Mexico anyway, we will beat you in the Gold Cup with 3 goals by Chicharito in the final.

To be honest, I think the american players still suck. It's their trainer Klinsmann that's amazing.

Not all, Donovan was very good and Bradley got better with time, and now maybe he's old.

What year will football be changed to soccer for the entire world at the insistence of Americans?

Soccer is the Oxford approved word for the game. Since the term came from Oxford, it is obviously the correct form. Some uneducated Manchester fans thought it was an American term and decided to deride it.

It's all ignorance. Calling it football offers no distinction between football, football, football and football (soccer, rugby, kicking the nuts and gridiron football).

Either way, it's a shitty game. Low scoring, and a corruption web so deep that it makes the former USSR look like the Ogden Weber county fair.

The American Women are more than "relatively good" at it. They've never finished lower than #1 in the group stage and never finished lower than 3rd in the World Cup. I watch the games with my daughters, who platte game. The Americans have the best Midfield by far, and that is the position my two oldest play, so they love watching it.

the uncle of the paraguayan player that tied the score and later scored the winning goal in the penalty kick definition vs Brasil in the quarterfinals of America Cup, died 1 minute later of a heart attack.

as wauww said, football is lived like a religion by some people.

some half an hour later, AoG came when Chicharito scored the equalizer in the game Costa Rica vs Mexico.

Curling is all about the beer drinking. It's a winter version of bowling. Peasant sports both.

He went from that shit-dump Montreal to the urbane, sprawling metropolis of Lawrence, Kansas.
